Raiders TE Clive Walford Says Not To Worry, He’ll Be Ready

The Raiders were hoping to see a lot of rookie tight end Clive Walford in preseason, but the month of August hasn’t exactly gone according to plan.

After missing most of the first two weeks of training camp with a hamstring issue, Walford practiced with the full squad for the first time on August 11. He played in the preseason opener on August 14 and hasn’t been seen since.

On Thursday, offensive coordinator, Bill Musgrave, described Walford’s absence as “significant” for both the team and for Walford personally. The Raiders, of course, have been mum on Walford’s status, but the rookie tight end took to twitter yesterday to let everyone know he’ll be fine.

Having been out all week and the Raiders’ third preseason game being tomorrow, “ready” almost certainly means he believes he’ll be ready when the regular season begins.

It isn’t much (officially, he never said he was talking about football), but given the Raiders almost never offer injury updates, Walford’s rather cryptic update is certainly welcomed.
