Report: Raiders DC Search “All Over The Place”

As the Raiders continue their search for a defensive coordinator, some are downplaying the necessity for Jack Del Rio to land a top defensive coordinator. Reason being? The Raiders already have Del Rio.

On 95.7 The Game this morning, ESPN’s Adam Schefter acknowledged that he doesn’t know where the Raiders’ search is headed, but speculated that right now “it’s all over the place.” Schefter added that he feels the offensive coordinator deal is “much bigger” than defensive coordinator deal because of the presence of Del Rio.

For what it’s worth, Schefter doesn’t believe the Raiders “settled” at offensive coordinator. “I do like the hiring of Bill Musgrave. He comes to Oakland as a different guy,” said Schefter who referenced Musgrave’s time around Chip Kelly as a learning experience. The Raiders have been enamored from the start with the Eagles offensive staff – remember Pat Shurmur was on their short list of head-coaching candidates.

As far as the defense is concerned, it still seems Mike Smith is Del Rio’s top target, but at least one report says that scenario is unlikely.
