Report: Derek Carr Experiencing Numbness In His Ring Finger

Derek Carr could miss the remainder of voluntary OTAs with an injury to his right ring finger. His absense from yesterday’s session appeared to be precautionary, and according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Carr is expected to be at full strength by the start of mini-camp.

While the injury is believed to be minor, ESPN’s Chris Mortensen said Carr was experiencing “numbness” in the finger and the hope is that he can avoid surgery with rehab and rest.

The Raiders are predictably not giving details. Jack Del Rio was asked about the injury yesterday and didn’t appear overly concerned. “Time missed in May is better than time missed in September,” Del Rio told reporters, adding that the team is “a little more cautious this time of year.”

The next update on Carr from the team should come within the next three weeks. Mini-camp is scheduled to begin June 9.
