Report: Raiders Don’t Want To “Reset The Market” At Quarterback With Carr’s Extension

According to Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole, there has been “little progress” in contract negotiations between the Raiders and Derek Carr.

While the Raiders have some leverage with Carr under contract for another year, it would be risky for the team to allow negotiations to linger – see Kirk Cousins and the Washington Redskins. Beyond that, Carr is only a holdout away from having all the leverage – see 2016 Oakland Raiders with Carr on the sideline.

Cole says the Raiders don’t want to “reset the market” by giving Carr more than the five-year, $122 million contact extension signed by Andrew Luck a year ago.

Nevertheless, Reggie McKenzie says a deal is coming. “I want Derek Carr to be a Raider for his career,” the Raiders general manager told 95.7 The Game this week. “We’ll get it done however we need to get it done.”
