Report: Raiders Monitoring The Jets And Muhammad Wilkerson

As teams continue to keep an eye on the status of defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson, the addition of Leonard Williams could mean the Jets would be willing to trade Wilkerson for less than their previous asking price – multiple first-round picks.

According to CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora, the Raiders and Browns were two teams monitoring Wilkerson and the Jets prior to the draft. The Browns added to their defensive front in the draft and the Raiders, of course, passed on Wilkerson with the fourth pick. Would either team still be interested?

Wilkerson is in the final year of his rookie contract and is slated to make $6.9 million – well below his market value. According to overthecap.com, the Jets are projected to enter 2016 with roughly $13 million in cap space – third least in the NFL. The Raiders could enter next season with a league-best $70 million in cap space.
