Reggie McKenzie did his best to spend money in free agency. He threw hefty contract offers at Ndamukong Suh, Randall Cobb, and DeMarco Murray, but came away with nothing – something that’s become a theme of Raiders’ free agency in recent years. One of the reasons, according to Mark Davis: outdated facilities.
Presumably, the facilities Davis was referencing are the training facilities currently under renovation, but the “facilities” at O.co Coliseum aren’t exactly drawing free agents to Oakland, either.
The truth is, the Raiders have been losing free agents for a number of reasons. Facilities are near the top of the list, but organizational instability and a losing culture haven’t helped – all the more reason for ownership to get this stadium situation figured out, and figured out quickly.
