Jack Del Rio wasn’t impressed by the Raiders “poor” defense in the team’s second preseason game, but he wasn’t discouraged by the play of rookie middle linebacker Marquel Lee.
“He’s actually done some pretty solid things,” Del Rio said of Lee after Saturday’s game. “He’s not the first linebacker to ever get exposed in man coverage.”
Del Rio added that the Raiders have had success defending the run and that Lee was part of the reason why.
Whether or not Lee is the answer at middle linebacker is still to be determined, but the Raiders will undoubtedly be looking for a little veteran insurance at the position in the coming weeks.
