Davante Adams said last year that playing for the Raiders was like playing under a dark cloud, and since he was traded in October of 2025, he hasn’t missed many opportunities to take shots at his former team.
On Wednesday, Adams was a guest on the Up and Adams Show and was asked if he has been in contact with his former teammate Maxx Crosby this year.
“I’ve been kind of letting him breathe a little bit, but I’ve been in his ear a little bit this year,” Crosby told host Kay Adams.
“Just kind of checking on my guy. A few of my guys over there. Him, Tre Tucker, that’s another one of my guys over there, as well. D.J. Turner. I’ve been checking on all my guys over there just making sure that they’re good and in a good head space.”
Asked if he has been recruiting Crosby to Los Angeles, Davante said the Rams recruit players with their play on the field.
“Hey, the recruiting is in what we’re doing, what we’re putting on tape every week,” Adams said. “So these guys are definitely seeing what we’re doing, and I don’t sign checks, and I don’t make decisions. But we doing our job over here by what we put on tape to make it look appetizing enough to want to come join us.”
Adams’ comments weren’t a direct shot at the Raiders, but he was definitely sending a message.
Crosby was on the fence a year ago about his future with the Raiders, and it’s going to be interesting to see his approach this time around with a new head coach and quarterback soon to be in the building.
Other than maybe the Jets, no team is expected to hit a harder reset in the offseason than the Raiders.
For what it’s worth, Adams made another series of comments on Tuesday and said he tells his teammates it doesn’t get any better than what they have with Sean McVay in Los Angeles.
“When I talk to these guys, Konata Mumpfield and some of these guys that are in the receiver room now. Even Puka, I say, ‘Look, man. I don’t care what you’ve seen me do, forcing trades, ending up playing with an old friend or whatever the case may be. I don’t care if it’s a coach that you’ve always wanted to play for.’ I always tell them the same thing over at this building,” Adams told ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith.
“I say, ‘Hey man, it ain’t greener than this. I jumped around and tried a few things. That’s truly what my heart told me to do. I made some calculated decisions with my wife, my family, even the clubs.’ After being here in this Rams facility, this organization, I just let them know, ‘It ain’t going to be greener than this. Whatever it is, I don’t care what you’ve got to do, make sure you stay in this building and just appreciate a building like this. Just take my word for it.'”

He’s mostly likely right.
I’m surprised Diva Duhvante is finally happy but he’s wasting his time with head games on super Maxx. Max has a trait ADAMS doesn’t, loyalty !!
Ameer Abdullah, Josh Jacobs, Davante Adams, Robert Spillane, Demico Autry, Jacobi Meyers all did well for other teams, this year. These players were not the problem, Raiders “leadership” ( or more accurately the lack thereof) was. Tre Tucker’s and Michael Mayer’s “problems” are the Raiders organization, most specifically offensive line and inept quarterback play. If anyone doubts this then watch them go to another team and be productive. The Raiders need, in addition to a competent offensive line, veteran quarterback depth, namely Malik Willis as the starter, Joshua Dobbs as the backup and a rookie who won’t be under pressure to start immediately. That’s how you add competent depth at this position.
Zamir White, Dillon Laube, Tyree Wilson, Kenny Pickett, Geno Smith and Adian O’Connell all need to be let go. Additionally, it wouldn’t hurt to address the (not so) Special teams. The offensive line and Special Teams coaches could use a serious upgrade. It seems that we are stuck with the guys who call themselves “Raiders Management,” so let’s see how they, this year, address last year’s “team” that they put on the field. No matter what they do, all the sportswriters will talk about is how things are looking up, until the team actually starts playing games.
