Antonio Brown Loves His Helmet More Than Anyone Could Have Imagined

Antonio Brown has been mostly quiet on his helmet situation, but it hasn’t been difficult to piece together how badly he wants to wear the 10+ year-old helmet that he was apparently issued when he first joined the Steelers.

After missing yet another practice because he couldn’t wear the helmet he wanted, Drew Rosenhaus said on Monday morning that the helmet was a “major issue” for Brown. As it turns out even that might be an understatement.

“He has his original helmet, from what I have been told, since the minute it was issued to him from Pittsburgh and he brought it with him to Oakland,” NFL Network’s Rich Eisen said on his Monday show. And as a matter of fact, I’ve been told he takes his helmet home with him. This is how much he loves this helmet.”

Eisen then offered his advice to Brown now that it looks like the league isn’t going to approve any version of the helmet Brown is demanding to wear:

“Go find that kid who didn’t get any offers essentially out of south Florida, had to go to Central Michigan, showed up in Pittsburgh as a late-round draft pick and beat out Mike freakin’ Wallace for a fat contract and the whole Steelers nation fell in love with that kid because of his passion for the game and a desire to be great. Find that guy, put him in a new helmet, and take the top of the offense off for Gruden.”

Not bad advice, actually.

  1. It is time for football and time for all the BS distractions to be put aside. The other players who filed a grievance against the league because of helmets have showed up in camp, practiced and played. AB is supposed to be an adult, act like one. You have people who are paid to follow-up on grievances and the like, let them do their job, while you do yours.
