Antonio Brown Shares Letter from Raiders Indicating $53K in Fines

The Raiders are apparently fining Antonio Brown $53,950 for time he missed in training camp last month.

General Manager Mike Mayock voiced his displeasure over Brown’s August absences in a public statement to the media last month, and on Wednesday morning Brown posted a letter from Mayock (as shared by team insider Vic Tafur) indicating that the Raiders are now fining Brown for  additional absences.

Brown’s caption in the post read as follows:

“WHEN YOUR OWN TEAM WANT TO HATE BUT THERE’S NO STOPPING ME NOW DEVIL IS A LIE. EVERYONE GOT TO PAY THIS YEAR SO WE CLEAR.”

It will be interesting to see how the Raiders handle Brown going forward because it certainly looks like Mayock is taking a ‘no nonsense’ approach to a player they just traded for and signed to a three-year, $50 million deal (with $30.1 million guaranteed).

So the best part of the AB fine letter is that he missed the walkthru the morning of the Packers games. So this has nothing to do w/the helmet stuff. He missed a practice while with the team in Canada. That’s 100% on him and he’s making it out like the Raiders screwed him.

The Raiders also can’t be pleased with the fact that Brown chose to post Mayock’s letter to social media. Definitely something to keep an eye one – if you already haven’t been doing so.

  1. I don’t know why he has to cause so much distinction. Just man up and play ball, it’s been one thing after another. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH !!!! GO RAIDERS GO !!!!

  2. AB, as a long-time fan, Raider NATION has welcomed you with open arms, as we know that Big Ben did you wrong, and the Steeler’s loss, is the Raiders gain. We appreciate your talent, work ethic, and production. We’re excited for you to open up this next chapter of your career, with the Raiders. With all this being said, with this next situation of you getting fined for missing practices, I can’t give you a Pass. You’ve been in this game long enough to know that there are lines that shouldn’t be crossed, because the crossing of some lines are detrimental to the Team. I have to say that Mayock is justified in fining you. Yes, you are a large part of this team, but you are not bigger than the team. Please take ownership of this, and be the Pro that you need to be, to help lead this team.
