Adam Butler has been arguably the most infiltered voice in the Raiders’ locker room this year, and he stayed true to form in his media session on Tuesday.
Butler was asked about his mentality after a 2-7 start to the season and, as is often the case with the veteran defensive tackle, his comments left plenty of room for interpretation.
“It’s very frustrating sometimes, I can’t lie, when the other side isn’t delivering the way you think that they should deliver, and sometimes it’s frustrating when we don’t deliver how we should deliver,” Butler told members of the media on Tuesday.
“Everybody can see what’s going on, we know what’s going on and the only thing we can do is do our job. I just focus on doing my job and focusing on helping the team win.”
Butler said “everybody can see what’s going on” but on the outside, there doesn’t seem to be anyone who knows what’s going on with the 2025 Raiders.
Maybe there is a coaching dynamic or player dynamic the team isn’t willing to talk about during the season, or maybe Butler was referring to the “disconnect” that some have mentioned in recent weeks.
Butler talked about the defense not delivering at times, but there’s no question that it’s been the offense holding back the team for most of the season. He knows that and everyone knows that.
On a potentially related note, there were some whispers a few weeks ago that players were starting to doubt Geno Smith, and it’s probably safe to assume they are wondering about offensive coordinator Chip Kelly, too.
Butler might not have been referring to Smith or Kelly, or anyone specific for that matter, but he definitely left a lot of room for speculation with the way he framed his statement.
Hypothetically, if the locker room was starting to sour on the quarterback, what would it look like?
Well, it might look like what happened between Smith and veteran running back Raheem Mostert in the second quarter of Thursday’s game.
As mentioned earlier this week, it wasn’t the argument between Smith and Mostert that stood out. It was the way Smith’s teammates responded when he came back to get everybody on the same page.

Geno needs to go
Or maybe he referring to Pete, Tom, and Spy not doing their jobs in the off-season that has produced this worthless season. Maybe he’s referring to the pint sized non superstar RB that’s not performing up to his draft status. Or maybe he’s referring to the rest of the overdrafted rookies that either aren’t playing or aren’t on the team anymore. There are plenty of things that he could be referring to besides the terrible 35yr old QB that Pete,Spy,and Tom had to have instead of a 3rd rd rookie like Milroe. Or the other QB they had to have from the Browns for a 5th next year instead of maybe someone with actual talent like J.Milton who went for less. Plenty of things we can speculate on
Again? They didn’t tank last season, they won two meaningless game, late in the season, which costs them the top pick.
It’s plain as day they r tanking again this year to get a qb but will it help time will tell I guess
