It was a big week for statements from the Raiders’ coaching staff and lost in some of the storylines around Germaine Pratt, Pete Carroll and Chip Kelly was a comment from Kelly about third-year wide receiver Tre Tucker.
On the season, Tucker (286) is only four yards behind Jakobi Meyers (290) in receiving yards and through five games, Tucker has played only three fewer snaps than Meyers, who is considered by most to be the team’s no. 1 wide receiver.
Adding to those details, Kelly made a statement about Tucker on Thursday that should not be overlooked.
“He’s been great, and I think he’s probably our best practice player,” Kelly said of Tucker, with no other qualifying statement.
“We always talk about you sync to your level of training. And he trains at such a high level, he’s playing at such a high level. And it’s a great point for all, especially our young players, that you can kind of point out that what you see out of Tre every day, and holy smokes, when you look at the GPS numbers and what he’s running in practice and doing, and then all of a sudden you turn on the tape and he’s doing the same exact thing….”
“He’s got these three or four passes over 20, getting behind people, but that’s what he does in practice, also. He’s kind of that what you want to show as a guy, like this is how you practice, that means this is how you’re going to play. And he’s a great example of that.”
Even with Jack Bech’s increased role in week 5, Tucker didn’t see his snaps drop at all. Tucker and Meyers both played 60 snaps in the game.
One of the underrated storylines around the Raiders right now is season Tucker is having so far, and the better kept secret is how highly the coaching staff seems to think of him.
Tucker has one more year (after this year) on his rookie deal, and his presence in the lineup might be one of the reasons the organization has been slow to address Meyers’ contract in the last year of his deal.

Tre Tucker gets it and understands that in this business he is just a contractor, in fact they’re all just contractors. They will only be around as long as they merit production to first keep that contract in place and then hopefully get a better one down the road.
Note to ALL players: Better make that money before your 30 boys, the NFL’s labor practices are one of exploitation now, once your 30, unless if your a QB they will force you into a business decision by structuring your numbers way down. Why? To limit the liability of repetitive injury law suits and save money by getting younger players who don’t know this business model and the operations of it yet.
Here is the bottom Line RN: This is no longer the Raiders, it is just Mark Davis’ team. Boycott Mark Davis, Davis must sell for this ground hog day disaster and nightmare to end. The only solution for these Horrific Halloween seasons to end, year after year, is for Mark Davis to sell.
WEST SIDE
RN
Since 1975
It will be a lot easier for you to find another team.
The comments made by “Westside” are true. I have noticed, this team drafts highly rated
players each year. Then within (3) years after contract time, these players are gone. This
continues the slide downwards as the cycle gets repeated. There is no reason that the Raiders roster should not be loaded on offense, defense, and special teams, based on their position in the draft Unless there is a strategy that covets financial gain over winning. So. In essence the comments made by “Westside” make sense. The most recent victim, appears to be Ashton Jeanty the Heisman trophy winning running back in the unfortunate position of
having been drafted by the Raiders.
What you describe happens because of constant regime changes, one regime drafts “their” players, then the next regime draft “their” players and dismiss the previous regimes players.
Shampoo, rinse, repeat = No continuity, no system, no stability, no identity and most importantly: NO SUSTAINED SUCCESS. (ie. See Steelers, ravens, SF, eagles, etc.)
I don’t think Mark Davis is making any football decisions, other than hiring the guys to make those decisions. I believe Al Davis, finally bumbled into a good head coach, in Gruden, then couldn’t stand the attention he got, and he got rid of him. Just like he did with a Superbowl MVP running back 10 years earlier, jealous, then he got Bo, jealous again. If your too young to remember, just look what’s happening in Dallas right now. Deja Vu all over again. Mark is only carrying on the old man’s senile ploddings.
I think Kelley has found ways to make Tucker effective, and, or the QB playing this year looks down field and has the arm to get it there. That said, Tucker is not and will never be a #1 receiver. He’s a Tutu Atwell, maybe a DJ Moore.
Gruden 1.0 wanted more say in roster decisions and Al didn’t want to give him those powers. Gruden ended up traded to a team that didn’t care Gruden couldn’t build a roster since Dungy already gave the one. Fast forwarding to 2018 Mark knew Gruden couldn’t build a roster but hired him anyway. Now Dallas in regards to Parsons had everything to do with Jerry’s ego. Jerry thinks he can make deals with individuals instead of agents because he’s a salesman. Parsons called him out on that and Jerry couldn’t stand it. I agree Tucker isn’t anywhere close to a #1. He’s underutilized but everyone on the offensive roster has been due to the turnover machine that is Geno. Mark is nothing like his old man except the last name. Al always tried to improve the team, Mark has been getting duped ever since Al passed. He can’t find anyone to run the football operations that is actually good. His best hire for that role has been Reggie Mckenzie and he had plenty of flaws. Most recently Mark was duped into thinking Brady could do the job. Wrong again. Pete’s still a great HC, wrong. Chip is a great OC, wrong. Spytek is going to draft great because he was in TB with Tom and Tom’s college roomy, wrong. Geno’s still a great QB, wrong since he never was. Etc,etc, etc
Thank all of you guys for not being Raid fans with their heads in the sand. Of course this team’s ownership and management deserves and needs all the critical observations that you guys have offered up, and more, until it returns to relevancy. So, I suggest that Mark Davis hires Becky Hammond as coach, Jackie Young as quarterback and Amy Trask as General Manager. In case some of you don’t know, when Al Davis was searching for a coach once, Amy Trask suggested Bill Belichik but Al chose Jon Gruden and the rest is history. But clearly Becky Hammond knows how to motivate players to win. Jackie young is the best point guard in the WNBA and NO ONE has more history with, football knowledge and commitment to this Raiders organization than Amy Trask. Now these moves would signal a real regime change. At the very least, bring in Amy Trask, she knows more about football than the entire Raiders ownership and management combined.
