Davante Adams: More “Contributing Factors” to Leaving the Raiders than People Know

Davante Adams didn’t leave the Raiders on the greatest of terms, and he has taken a good amount of criticism for the way he handled his final weeks with the team.

For their part, the Raiders deserve a share of the blame for putting a non-competitive roster around Adams in the wake of pushing Derek Carr out of the building.

It was a messy start to the season for Adams and the Raiders, and it culminated in October with a trade request that only served to add a distraction to a 2024 season that didn’t need anything else to go wrong.

On Friday, Adams talked again about his time with the Raiders and hit on some of the factors he took into account before requesting a trade.

“The team gets the head coach fired, the GM fired, had like three or four quarterbacks play this year. So me as Davante Adams, I’m trying to figure out what’s next in my life,” Adams said on the Up and Adams Show. “Obviously, you have to take all these things into consideration and then weigh your options. Based off what I was presented with at the time and a lot of other contributing factors that I won’t get into publicly, it was the time for me to go from the Raiders.”

Adams has repeatedly said he has no regrets about joining the New York Jets, who ended up being as much of a circus as the Raiders down the stretch.

The expectation is that the Jets will trade or release both Adams and Aaron Rodgers in the offseason and that means there is a chance the two will reconvene in a new city next year.

It will be interesting to see if any teams want to hitch their wagon to Rodgers, but Adams is sure to have plenty of suitors.

The Raiders’ coaching staff and personnel department are going to be completely turned upside down in the weeks ahead so, in theory, Adams could find his “hometown” team attractive again.

And if that happens, may as well bring his good buddy Rodgers to the desert, too, right?

Report. Block. Unfollow. Do what you have to do to never be exposed to an awful idea like that again.
