Davante Adams Names Notable Quarterback He Would Enjoy Playing With and the QB He Wanted the Raiders to Draft

With Antonio Pierce officially coming back as head coach of the Raiders, the chances of Davante Adams returning next year probably got a little better.

Adams has been talking like he isn’t going anywhere next year, and last week he mentioned a notable quarterback that he would enjoy playing with.

It was a hypothetical scenario that was presented to Adams by co-host Amber Theoharis on the Two G’s in a Pod podcast, and he was given the choice to pick any quarterback in the league to play with… which ended up making his answer even more intriguing.

Aaron Rodgers was removed as a choice by Theoharis and co-host James Jones before Adams named C.J. Stroud and Jordan Love. But the first quarterback he named was Kirk Cousins, who is on track to enter free agency in March….

“I’ll say this. There’s a couple quarterbacks I really like out there,” Adams said. “It depends on what you’re saying, but if you’re talking about a dude that can find somebody, I like Kirk Cousins. I think Kirk Cousins is a really good quarterback. As far as availability, I think Kirk is a good player.”

As for Stroud, Adams said he campaigned last year for the Raiders to draft the Ohio State quarterback…

“[Stroud] was somebody I was campaigning for coming out,” Adams said. “I won’t say I was anti-rookie, but I was not pro-rookie across the board. It wasn’t ‘just get somebody young in here.’ That was the guy I felt and he felt the same way. I know I seen a couple videos where they asked him who he would like to go… I never been around a dude that young coming in that’s that mature, other than probably Tre Tucker. Those two dudes are probably two of the most mature rookies I’ve been around.”

The Stroud comment was a little bittersweet (because the Raiders should have drafted him last year), but it’s no small detail that Adams picked Cousins over a lot of more accomplished quarterbacks in the league…

Maybe something to keep in mind as free agency draws closer.

  1. Believe me when I say Mark Davis doesn’t want to have a black quarterback he rather lose every game than have a brother back there quarterback for the Raiders and believe that.

    1. Come on. So wha you’re saying is.. that mark Davis is a racistl right? And how do you back that statement up? I believe you have a confusion going on . Because if he was, our next coach wouldn’t even have been considered. So, enough with the racial stuff .

  2. I’m Proud to remind the world that Historically, the Raiders organization has been THE Leader in 1st’s for minorities. 1st minority Head Coach (Tom Flores), 1st Black Head Coach (Art Shell), 1st woman CEO of an NFL franchise (Amy Trask) these are just the ones that come to mind immediately, I’m sure there are NO other NFL teams that can lay claim to being as proactive in equality within the organization as the Raiders have always been AT THE FOREFRONT of issues of EQUALITY!
I also believe they were the 1st NFL team to address domestic violence issues within the NFL publicly. That’s NOT the actions of narrow mindedness, and absolutely the Model Franchise of Equality Bar NONE!
    Stop the Ignorance!!!
