Is Tom Brady involved in game planning with the Raiders’ coaching staff?
Based on a report on Monday, Brady is very involved and meets with offensive coordinator Chip Kelly 2 to 3 times each week to go through the game plan.
But on Tuesday, head coach Pete Carroll downplayed the report on Brady and the coaches, and the NFL took down a post on X stating that Brady and Kelly work together on game plans through the week.
But as some have pointed out, the complication with denying the report on Brady and Kelly is the idea that the report seems to be sourced to Kelly, himself.
On the Raiders’ flagship radio station, the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s Vinny Bonsignore talked about that dynamic this week.
“I guess it’s debatable how much input [Brady] actually has, and it’s something to keep an eye on,” Bonsignore said on Raider Nation Radio’s Morning Tailgate on Tuesday.
“I’m sure we’ll be asking Pete that question again this week, and certainly Chip Kelly, because it sounded like, and this is some paraphrasing, because… it sounded like it came from Chip [Kelly], right? It sounded like based on what was talked about on ESPN, that Chip said, ‘Hey, we talked three times, you know, we talked multiple times a week and break down films.”
If it’s true that Kelly is the source of the Brady report, it’s hard to imagine he got his information wrong.
Seeing Brady in the coaches’ box on Monday night only confirmed suspicions that he has been involved even to the extent of working with the coaches.
Whether or not it matters that the coaching staff is leaning on Brady is another discussion, but his presence in the coaches’ box on Monday didn’t turn out to be much of an advantage.

Again, there is no evidence that Brady is qualified to coach or make personnel decisions. He was an amazing player. Not the same skillset. Ask Wayne Gretzky and Michael Jordan.
I’ve said this over and over. Al would get crap his whole career for “meddling” with coaches yet here’s an owner actually sitting in with the offensive staff during a game. He said no to Darnold.
Dr. Death said it best, “sell the team Mark!”
