Flagship Host Says Mark Davis wanted to Beat the Giants in Week 17

If you have followed Raider Nation Radio host ‘JT the Brick’ this season, you know he isn’t concerned about where the Raiders pick in the 2026 draft.

As fans and analysts have clamored for the first overall pick in this year’s draft, JT has been rooting for the Raiders to win, even in week 17 against the Giants.

Whether you agree with JT or not, based on comments he made on this week’s show, the Raiders’ owner doesn’t care about the team’s draft position, either.

“I talked to a number of people around the Raider organization that wanted to win, you know who they are, including the owner. Because part of this deal about lighting the torch is my wife was able to sit with the owner, which was really cool, and he wanted to win really bad, and everybody wanted to win who’s involved in wearing the colors on game day,” JT said on his Raider Nation Radio Show.

“But we know what you think and you want the no. 1 pick and now you got it. Hey Raider Nation, you got the no. 1 pick… it’s not guaranteed you’re going to keep it. You’ve got the Chiefs coming to town… So this is what you wanted. All the comedians, all the improvisors, all the influencers, all the comedy guys, you all wanted this. You got. This is what you wanted. You got it. I’m going to get out of your way…”

“I’m not the headliner at the chuckle hut. If you want to go down this road and you want the no. 1 pick and you’re gaining followers and subscribers and you love it, hallelujah! I want everybody to do well. I just told you I’ve got gratitude. I lit the torch. Kind of like a drop the mic thing for me, so I’m good.”

Obviously, there are a lot of emotions that go into a game like Sunday’s game against the Giants, but it’s hard to imagine Davis not understanding why it’s so important to get the no. 1 pick in this year’s draft.

For years, the Raiders have been drafted too low to get a franchise quarterback and the results have gotten to the organization to where they are now.

Fans are tired of retread quarterbacks and sixth-round picks, and the owner should be, too.

If the tradeoff for a franchise quarterback is a loss to the lowly Giants, so be it.

The Raiders chase Super Bowls… not meaningless week 17 wins two months after they’ve been eliminated from the playoffs with the majority of their stars on the sideline.

  1. We have to go with Mendoza, I don’t want to hear about any higher ceiling crap for Dante Moore, I want the proven commodity!

    1. I like both . Moore played a way better defense Thursday and still looked good.

      Projection matters in the NFL

    1. IDK I think Brady partying with the Epstein crowd in St Bart’s tonight is just as bad

  2. JT the Bootlicker! “Oh wow, I got to light the torch in be in proximity to a billionaire.” Congratulations, dude. All you had to do was spend 25 years selling out your credibility and independence to do it.

    1. I get JT has to be a suck up to the organization but calling out fans when they respectfully disagree & then saying you’re Mr. Free speech is typical chicken crap from him
