Florio Fuels Trade Speculation around Maxx Crosby

Are Maxx Crosby’s days with the Raiders coming to an end?

After clearly being upset with the team’s decision to end his season, Crosby left the team last week but returned to the building on Monday.

The events of last week have elevated speculation that Crosby will request a trade in the offseason and NBC Sports host Mike Florio believes that is the direction the situation is headed.

Florio noted on Monday that FOX Sports insider Jay Glazer referenced several conversations with Crosby and believes Glazer didn’t the float the idea of a trade without some sort of confirmation from Crosby.

“[Glazer said he spoke to Maxx Crosby a lot in recent days, and Crosby vehemently objected to the idea of putting him on injured reserve,” Florio said on PFT Live.

“He’d been playing with a knee injury all year long. And so Glazer’s quoting Crosby and then at the end, Glazer says, you know, back around the trading deadline, there was some talk about Crosby possibly being traded, and he told the team he doesn’t want to be traded. You have to wonder if he feels differently now. Well, you talked to him, Jay, and the fact that he stopped short, I think Crosby has told him, but you can’t say it, ‘I’m going to try to get back here.'”

“Glazer doesn’t drop that turd in the punch bowl unless he knows he can back it up.”

Crosby turns 29 prior to the start of the 2026 season, so it’s fair to wonder if the timing might be ideal for a rebuilding team like the Raiders to see what they can get for Crosby in a trade.

The idea has been floated that Crosby could be worth multiple first-round picks and that might be a difficult proposition to refuse for Tom Brady and the decision makers in Las Vegas.

Crosby has dealt with multiple injuries in recent years and at some point, his career is going to enter a downward trajectory. That hasn’t happened yet, but Brady spent most of his playing career in New England, where they traded players at the tail end of their prime.

Crosby wouldn’t say he’s at the tail end of his prime, but does Brady share that opinion?

The other detail to Crosby’s situation is that the extension he signed a year ago was designed to accommodate a trade. That didn’t happen by accident.

According to OverTheCap, there would only be $5.1 million in dead money involved in a Crosby trade, and the Raiders would save more than $30 million against the salary cap.

Just something to keep an eye on as the Raiders enter arguably the most pivotal offseason in team history.

  1. The best the Raiders can get for Maxx is a late first rounder from a playoff contender. You ain’t getting multiple first and second round picks. Thus, Maxx stays put.

  2. As mentioned above, it’s to late to wheel Maxx. Raiders should have done it last year. Clean house, and build around Maxx, Bowers, and Jeanty. Fire Pete, and release washed up Geno!
