Former Raiders Head Coach Jon Gruden Has Filed a Lawsuit Against the NFL

The fall of Jon Gruden was fast and furious. One by one, emails were leaked until he had no choice but to resign.

Now a month later, Gruden has reportedly filed a lawsuit against the NFL and commissioner Roger Goodell.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the lawsuit argues that the league intentionally leveraged their information on Gruden to destroy his career:

“Through a malicious and orchestrated campaign, the NFL and commissioner Roger Goodell sought to destroy the career and reputation of Jon Gruden, the former head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders…

When their initial salvo did not result in Gruden’s firing or resignation, defendants ratcheted up the pressure by intimating that further documents would become public if Gruden was not fired.

They followed through with this threat by leaking another batch of documents to the New York Times for an October 11, 2021 article. On October 7, 2021, Jon Gruden was the head coach of the Raiders on a 10-year, $100-million contract. By October 11, 2021, he had been forced to resign.”

A witness sure to testify in the lawsuit will be Raiders’ owner Mark Davis. It’s no secret that Davis feels like the league was targeting the Raiders (and presumably Gruden). But as a team owner, Davis essentially is the league.

The question now… what else is going to get uncovered in all this?

Albert Breer on Twitter: “The edge Gruden has in court lies with the NFL’s least favorite word: Discovery. / Twitter”

The edge Gruden has in court lies with the NFL’s least favorite word: Discovery.

So this situation is going to get messy… and will hopefully end with the public getting a peak into 650,000 of Goodell’s private messages over the years, as well.

Not likely to happen, but we can all hope.

  1. Truth is Gruden noticed how mych time and effort.he put into the birn looser Carr.So Gruden made sure to get fired. To anyone that knows anything about football can see plain as day Carr is a AVERAGE qb at best

  2. Roger goodell isn’t good for the league it’s obvious, he gets booed at the draft day booed at the super bowl, he’s very i easy to dislike. He’s a fraud. I hope Gruden and his lawyers bring him down.
