Former Raiders voice Greg Papa has good reason to be bitter at the Raiders after being fired by the team before the 2019 season… but does he have to hate on Josh Jacobs?
Talking about Offensive Rookie of the Year candidates this year, Jacobs was brought up and Papa didn’t have any love for the Raiders dynamic rookie running back.
“Josh Jacobs? He didn’t have a great year,” Papa said on his Thursday KNBR radio program.
Certainly Papa is one of the best at what he does, but he seems to have lost all objectivity when it comes to the Raiders. Not only is Jacobs a front-runner to win the OROY, he might win the award in only 13 games – which would be “great” by anyone’s standards.
Note to everyone going forward. Papa was a great asset to the Raiders organization. It’s unfortunate that he got fired. But his opinion on anything Raider-related should probably be dismissed going forward. He’s apparently still too salty to think straight about anything involving his former team.
And Papa’s choice for OROY, 49ers WR Deebo Samuel, finished the year with 802 receiving yards. By the all means take the check from Jed York for the great play-by-play, but has he bought the right to think for you, too, Greg?

It seems that he has joined the ranks of the Raider haters, I don’t know the specifics of their breakup, but his statement sounds venomous and unprofessional…..
What’s sad and proves his bias ideals now a days, is that Deebo wasn’t even the best rookie WR this year! There was a couple youngsters that showed oit far more than he did. Tennessee’s Brown. Washington had a late round guy that a can’t remember his name, that was balling out all season! Poor papa… Thought he was more of a man then that….

Ya … What is is like 11 vs 16 on every snap. Except the other team uselly has like 5 players wearing black and white stipes. Its tough being a raider. It always cones down to somthing unnecessary just to make a the play. Remember last year when they took out an index card and stuck it between the ball and the first down mark we’re holding the chains from side to side on the field to see if the nose of the ball was close enough to get a first down ridiculous never seen nothing like that in my life I’m only 38 but I’ve watched a lot of football they seem to make rules in the NFL because of the Raiders if that doesn’t seem tougher when you play a game then I guess the Patriots don’t cheat either LMFAO

That said I can’t believe his Bitterness and lack of objectivity. He was Personally Loyal to Al Davis and Mark got rid of ALL Loyalists associated with the Team. Unfortunate but, a Brilliant move for Any New King…
Greg Papa got fired for 2 reasons
1. He said in a interview that he didnt want to Las Vegas. So Mark Davis helped him out.
2. Again he opened his mouth and praise Mike Shanahan, that Al Davis did not like.
Yes, Greg Papa is a very good sports play by play, but he isnt loyal.
Papa never praised shanahan. The reason he got fired is because he thought the idea of even bringin him in for an interview would make Al roll in his grave. That’s where the fall out came. Mark wanted to interview shanahan and papa voiced his opinion.
Jp is 100% correct. Mark Davis got his panties in a wad because Papas put him on the spot for being the ignorant owner of the Raiders with no recollection of the poison that Shanahan was to the team. Papas told him that Al would have been furious for giving Shanahan a interview. Getting rid of Papas was the first big mistake Davis made and the team has suffered because of it. Have you ever tried to listen to Musburger call the Raiders game? The only reason he is a Raider fan is because he is paid to be one.
You know what he’s a piece of ****,talking about Jacobs that way. Play by play guy I don’t like him one bit I’m a die hard Raider fan and I live in NJ I started watching them in Super Bowl 18 against the Redskins and I think they were 11 point underdogs but anyway I’m glad he got fired
Raider Rex: 13 games, 1100 plus yards for Josh Jacobs and you claim that’s a bad year him. I think over a 1000 yards for any running back in 16 games is great year. For Greg Papa to pick a 49er player for rookie of the year is being a little spiteful. Go RAIDERS!!!
Who cares what pappa thinks? He is a 49er homer and clearly if he thinks deebo is more deserving of ROTY over Jacobs then he clearly is bitter and clueless. Jacobs is way better than Deebo…Pappa should just stick to his 49er stuff .His comments dont carry any weight or reverberate with anyone. Pappa is just a radio play by play guy.. he isnt a talent assessment guy, coach, trainer or GM. He is just a announcer. I think he feels like he is much more than that.. but at the end of the day he isnt. Nobody listens to pappa when putting a team together. He has onions like everyone else. I think he forgot his role with the raiders and tried to throw his opinion into management and ownership issues.He got too big headed and was replaced… He is gone and I can careless..pappa should avoid making stupid remarks because he is butt hurt.. makes him look like a total moron.

The guy obviously pays no attention to stats and only to hating the raiders. In 13 games he exceeded 1000 yards. He played injured and carried the ball more then anyone expected. If you’re going to pick someone over him the only debate is Kyler Murray, and honestly I still think Jacobs edges him out in the vote column
Fortunately, it doesn’t matter what Papa thinks. Jacobs had a great season with a shoulder injury many opposing players praised him for his tenacity. The Raiders had a first year tight end who played better than Samuel. Waller!!

Greg Papa just tried to take a parting shot… instead the entire football community and his colleagues will view him as a vindictive little man who got canned and now he wants to spit falsehoods about something that diminishes his professionalism. Instead of taking the higher road and saying I’ll never vote for a Raider for anything, whether it’s deserved it not! Greg Papa, you only played yourself, now anything you say will be looked at like gossip and not fact, we expect fact from a play by play announcer who is supposed to he our eyes and ears as we listen to a sport on radio or TV because for whatever reason we cannot be there in person. I now consider you the Don King or play by play announcers…like watching 12 rounds of boxing and seeing a guy get pummeled from start to finish, yet he wins anyway. Wished they kept Paps, he was so good. Musberberger is much better than I thought he’d be. He’s just wrong on this. Although, I don’t know if Jacob’s has the ability to bust out a 60 yrd run to the house? Yeah, he’s pissed. To compare Debo and Josh Jacobs is ridiculous!!!!! Jacobs was the anchor of that entire offense!! He should win Rookie of the Year hands down!!!
