Has Mo Wilkerson Moved On From The Raiders?

Not long ago, Mo Wilkerson appeared to be lobbying for a trade to Oakland.

“He sees what they are building there and would leap at the opportunity to come on board,” CBS Sports insider Jason La Canfora wrote of Wilkerson less than a month ago.

At the time, the Raiders were swimming in salary cap room. Now the Raiders have just over $12 million in cap room and if a recent report is accurate, Wilkerson may have moved on to the 49ers, who happen to be loaded with over $56 million in cap room.

“Wilkerson wants a fresh start,” said Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee. “I’m told he’d love to play in San Francisco.”

While Wilkerson may be chasing the money, he never responded to reports that he wanted to join the Raiders. In this case, a cryptic message on twitter seems to be directed at the report connecting him to the 49ers.

The Jets are believed to be asking for a first round pick for Wilkerson and possibly more.

  1. This is NEW RAIDER ERA. WE GOT MONEY TO PAY YOU. SHOW YOU WANT TO BE A RAIDER. WERE BUILDING A LIFESTYLE HERE. WE WILL SINE YOU AND RAGLAND AT 14. TAKE A GOOD LOOK BROTHER! Love to see ya!!!!

      1. And you using the wrong grammar makes us look just as bad.. Do you even know the difference between you’re and your? Moron

        1. If you want to be a grammar police, he’s actually correct by using “you’re” (you are). But he’s missing some punctuations in the run-on-sentence.

        2. If YOU’RE going to insult someone’s grammar, you need to make sure YOURS is correct. Otherwise, you look like an idiot and an asshole. Like you just did.

    1. We don’t have the money to sign him, didn’t you read the article? We only have $12MM and still have to pay our draft picks.

      1. The hell with that asshole Wilkerson . He doesn’t care about winning that fat slob only cares about money . That cocksucker

  2. Is anyone surprised? The Raiders have spent big money to upgrade several areas. The money adds up. Wilkerson will want to get paid well. If the 49ers do have the money to pay him, he’s going to prefer them over Oakland. This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone.

  3. It would be easy enough to make the cap space needed to sign Wilkerson but would that really be smart? We have already signed some fairly expensive free agents but we did it with the future in mind. Next off season the Raiders will be looking to sign Carr and/or Mack to long term deals. They may wait a year on Mack because we have the fifth year option but not with Carr. Letting Carr’s rookie deal run out and then tagging him would be a mistake. Get it done next year and Mack the following year. If we were to sign a player in the 15-20 million range (like Wilkerson) we could find ourselves with a cap problem. So far Reggie has managed cap space better than any GM out there so I can’t see him screwing it up now. Plus he would have to give up at least the first round pick. I say keep the pick and the money Nd take care of our own first.

    1. On mack the raiders wohld first use the 5th year extension on Mack. Which means Khalil Mack wont become a Unrestricted Free Agent. Then you apply the franchise Tag, Guarantees he stays a raider till 2019 to 2020. But as they apply the Tag he will get his extension.
      2016 Free Agency
2017 tbe Raiders will give D. Carr a Long Term Deal
2018 Khalil Mack given 5th option the.
      2019 K.Mack Tag/Long term deal.

The Raiders will not be affected by tbis years sending by the time Carr And mack com around

      1. Thank you. Finally a person that understand the salary cap and contracts. I have been saying this all spring. We really need a guy of his caliber to maximize our edge rushers.

  4. Trade down to the late 20s to pickup an additional 2nd + 3Rd then ship that first to New York for big Mo.

Rounds 2 and 3 are loaded with depth. No one better than Mo on the board at 14.

  5. He’s worth the 15th pick in the draft. He’s proven it. Pay him the one year deal, and if he isn’t worth it let him walk.
