Host Believes New Comments from Shedeur Sanders Might Be Directed at the Raiders

There isn’t a quarterback in the 2025 NFL draft that has been more closely linked to the Raiders than Shedeur Sanders, but with the no. 6 pick, there are plenty of potential scenarios where the Raiders will not have an opportunity to draft to Colorado quarterback.

The Titans, Browns and Giants pick ahead of the Raiders and all three teams will be candidates to take a quarterback in the draft.

Most consider University of Miami quarterback Cam Ward to be the top quarterback prospect in this year’s class, but Sanders will be no. 2 on a lot of draft boards, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him drafted within the first five picks.

With Sanders, though, the situation gets a little more complicated with the involvement of his father. Deion Sanders has been clear that there are teams at the top of the draft he doesn’t want his son to play for.

”It’s not who I would like for [Shedeur] to play for. It’s a couple teams that I won’t allow him to play for,” Deion said on the Tamron Hall Show last month.

Then on the Dan Patrick Show two weeks ago, the elder Sanders acknowledged he has been orchestrating draft matters for his son behind the scenes.

Rather than call out organizations publicly, Deion said he has already been in contact with teams he has concerns with.

“I’m going to lead them in the right direction,” Deion said about his sons to Patrick. “I would meet with [teams] behind closed doors. I would not call them out. I would not put them on front street and talk about their organization because people work too hard to make it right… I would meet with them privately and talk about my concerns so we could have an understanding.”

But in recent weeks, it seems from the outside that Deion and his boys have been putting their stamp of approval on every team picking at the top of the draft.

Even the Browns have gotten love from the Sanders family in recent weeks.

If Shedeur and his family are happy with every team at the top of the draft, then who are the teams Deion has been referring to on his blacklist?

Raider Nation Radio host Q Myers talked about the mixed signals coming from the Sanders camp this week and he believes there might be an underlying message to the Raiders.

“[Deion] said he would do it behind the scenes, which I think is a smart way to do things. If you’re going to do that, if you’re going to use your ability to kind of navigate where your son is drafted, do it behind the scenes,” Myers said on Raider Nation Radio’s Unnecessary Roughness.

“You don’t have to go out and embarrass an organization. But all we’ve heard as of late… it’s like everything is ‘Cleveland, Cleveland, Cleveland. Hey, Shedeur would love to go to Cleveland. Shedeur would have no problem playing at Cleveland.'”

But like everyone else, Myers isn’t sold on the idea that Deion is going to let Shedeur go to the Browns.

“It seems like Shedeur, and it sounds like maybe Deion and the Sanders camp, are trying to make sure that maybe he doesn’t necessarily go to Cleveland, but he doesn’t necessarily go to number six, right?” Myers speculated. “What I mean by that is Field Yates had his mock draft up on the screen one day Shedeur was in the gym, and of course Deion Sanders Jr., who films everything, is filming and documenting everything, and he’s looking at the mock draft that says ‘Raiders, Shedeur is six,’ and he’s like, ‘That’s cap, bro. I’m not going six.'”

Myers said that in his opinion, he feels like the Sanders camp might be sending the Raiders the message that if they want Shedeur, they aren’t going to be able to sit on the no. 6 pick and get him.

“It feels like they’re trying to get the Raiders to maybe trade up from six to two, or, you know, or something like that, maybe even six to one to go get them because he wants to go higher than number six,” Myers said. “Again, I’m not a genius. I just know this is the conversation that’s going on in Cleveland. This is the conversation that people are having right now. People at Cleveland that are seeing Shedeur to the Browns are like, ‘That ain’t happening,’ They don’t even believe it, right?”

Earlier this month, ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky talked about the fit in Las Vegas being perfect for Sanders.

“Easiest decision of the draft and, by far, the perfect situation for Shedeur Sanders. I do think there’s some young talent in Las Vegas [with] Brock Bowers being the premier kind of mainstay. I love the fact that he [would be] with Pete Carroll because you know that defensively they’re going to force him to score 35 or 40 a game,” Orlovsky said on ESPN’s NFL Live.

“I also love the fact that their new offensive coordinator Chip Kelly the collegiate ties, so the new age offense and some of the stuff that Shedeur is comfortable, with also understanding how the NFL game works. If you were Shedeur Sanders, you would take [the Raiders] in a heartbeat. It would be perfect for him.”

For what it’s worth, there are several draft pundits who seem to want to see Shedeur end up with the Raiders.

Ultimately, it doesn’t matter what Orlovsky, or anyone else, thinks of Sanders and the Raiders. The important opinion belongs Tom Brady.

If Brady and the Raiders are sold on Shedeur, there’s a good chance he and Coach Prime will find a way to get Shedeur to Las Vegas.
