Have the Raiders finally found the head coach they’ve been searching for in Klint Kubiak?
Despite not having Brock Bowers in the lineup, the Raiders are off to a 2-0 start for the first time since 2021 and the optimism around the team hasn’t reached its current level since Jon Gruden was in the building.
Kubiak is one of the most detail-oriented coaches in the league; he changed the way the Raiders approach training camp and according to flagship radio host ‘JT the Brick’, Kubiak’s mentality after wins is different than any head coach he has been around in his three decades with the organization.
“I will say this, in all of my years of doing this, I have never met a coach that wants to move on [from wins] as quickly as this coach. Not even close,” JT said of Kubiak on his Raider Nation Radio show.
“I’ve never worked for Bill Belichick. Belichick might have been faster… I’ve worked with some good coaches. Jon Gruden, Pete Carroll, legendary coach. Go through all the coaches I worked for or worked with in Oakland. You can go from Lane Kiffin all the way to Dennis Allen. Dennis Allen is a hell of a coach, not a great head coach, but he’s been a very good coach. Tom Cable, the Cable guy, and everybody else there. Everybody would want to talk for a day or two about a win. This coach is all ball.”
Two months ago, JT said he talked to a member of the Raider organization who had been with the team for more than 25 years and the person told him Kubiak is the best they had ever seen at preparing for practices.
“I talked to people behind the scenes, off the record, who have been with this organization and [they] said he’s the best they’ve ever seen in pre-ready practice,” JT said in July.
“Someone who has been with the organization as long as me, over 25 years said, quote, ‘I’ve never seen a coach come out on the field ready to practice and there was some good ones.’ I mean, Pete Carroll and Jon Gruden alone and Josh McDaniels was a genius in regard to preparation. It didn’t work, but the guy was prepped up for practice. So someone who I hold in high authority told me that Kubiak’s practices are going to be so bleeping detailed that the players who have played for other coaches are going to have to get into this quickly and that’s why the mini camps OTAs were really important.”
