Florio Believes Raiders’ Current Coaching Dynamic “Not Sustainable” Beyond 2025

As the Raiders move closer to the offseason, one of the more popular talking points (again) is going to be the power structure in the building among ownership and the personnel people like GM John Spytek and head coach Pete Carroll.

Whether it’s true or not, there will be talk of Spytek being Brady’s puppet as a general manager and it’s going to be interesting to see how the coaching situation plays out after the season.

It’s no secret that Carroll wasn’t the Raiders’ first choice to be their head coach 2025, and ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio believes Carroll’s job could be up for discussion after the season.

Florio, though, believes offensive coordinator Chip Kelly deserves a pink slip ahead of Carroll.

“I feel like it’s not sustainable between the two of them. And frankly, [with] all do respect to Chip Kelly, I’m keeping Pete Carroll,” Florio said on PFT Live.

“Pete Carroll has accomplished things in the NFL. Chip Kelly has accomplished nothing. He took the Eagles to the playoffs that first year… [but] one of the big themes in the aftermath of his time with the Eagles was, and Jeffrey Lurie explained after he fired Chip Kelly, we are prioritizing emotional intelligence in our coaching process. Which is basically saying Chip Kelly doesn’t have any,” Florio continued.

“I was surprised they hired him and again, was it a Brady hire? Was it a Brady recommendation? I don’t know, but I feel like when this season ends, one of those two guys is going to be gone between Carroll and Kelly, and my guess is it is going to be Kelly.”

There’s a lot to unpack there, but Florio has been talking for a while about Kelly being Brady’s guy in the building. There isn’t a lot of public information to support that theory, but it’s become a talking point since the second week of the season when it was reported that Brady and Kelly work together on the gameplan each week.

Nevertheless, it’s an interesting power structure the Raiders have rolled out since Brady was brought on board as a minority owner, and if the first year has been any indication, it’s a power structure that could a little complicated in the months to come.
