Germaine Pratt was picked up by the Colts on Wednesday morning, but there are still a lot of questions about why the Raiders released the veteran linebacker in the first place.
Sports Illustrated insider Hondo Carpenter said no one he has talked to in the locker room was particularly disappointed to see Pratt leave, and Raider Nation Radio host ‘JT the Brick’ pulled back the curtain a little more on why.
“Germaine Pratt’s gone. People wonder why… Germaine Pratt was not all in. He was a really difficult player to handle recently. Very difficult to handle,” JT said on his Raider Nation Radio show.
“He’s no longer with the team. Just like if you worked in an accounting firm, a law firm, you worked at a grocery store in the back, whatever you did, if you were really difficult to work with, you would not be there. Period.”
Like Christian Wilkins, who the Raiders released in July, it sounds like Pratt was a headache in the locker room, and that’s not something head coach Pete Carroll has been willing to tolerate.
“Some people freak out… is the organization breaking down? No, no, no. Every once in a while, if someone’s kissing someone on the head or someone’s being a certain bad guy or malcontent, they’re gone,” JT added about Wilkins and Pratt.
“I don’t know what they do in the locker room. I’m not in the locker room, but if you’re not going to handle your business… Pete Carroll is the essence of handle your business like a grown-*** man. If you get cut from Pete Carroll’s team, it’s pretty obvious why you got cut. You’re not all in. And not everybody can be all in.”

The Beat shouldn’t post anything if it comes out of ” the Bricks” mouth or from “Hondo”. This isn’t news it’s PR propaganda. Pratt, IMO had seen enough from the collection of coaches and the frankly the organization and said let me leave or I’ll be a malcontent. Pete was rightfully fired by the Hawks because he’s stubborn and won’t change once he puts in his plan with his players. He’s doing the same here and the results will eventually be the same. This should’ve been looked at as a rebuild since the roster had been decimated by terrible decisions prior to this year, but a part owner who thinks he knows something about how to construct a NFL franchise surrounds himself with an old buddy who won’t tell Mr.Brady to stay in his lane. So they picked a freaking RB at 6th overall in a draft that has/had multiple starting quality RBs. Then follow it up with more reaches round after round. Fast forward to this week and I just read an article about Tom and him basically saying the draft is over-rated. I wonder why the team sucks so much. There will be more malcontents if Pete continues to support only his guys.
Well said. Obviously Pratt has some value as he didn’t stay unemployed very long. The team appears to be an absolute mess!
Exactly, no surprise that a former coach of Pratt doesn’t think his a “malcontent”.
Again we were the organization that use to sign those guys. Of course, JT never takes real questions so you could never ask him “well JT WHY didn’t he buy in?”
Brady is a fraud, if Telesco was here Indiana Jones would’ve been signed with Membou drafted & we’d have a better future. Just a stupid organization, but Spytek’s kid has to win a fantasy football championship
Obvious issues with the front office and head coach decisions…starting with his lack luster staff? Terrible personnel selection and utilization, and it appears that the decision makers are more concerned about saving money than building a strong team! Planning for future is a myth, and today is now and they need to focus on the now…nothing tomorrow is promised!
We could have saved a ton of money by not signing Geno Smith, look at the dudes career, he sucks, one decent year in 14 years and 35 years old. I’m no expert but I dreaded the news we were signing him, he’s been a bad journeyman qb his whole career it didn’t take a football genius to see that. 24 picks in his last 22 games. Sell the fing team.
While he’s at it, it’s time to send Devin White on his way (not for being a bad guy, just a godawful player) and start giving some more opportunities for the younger guys over Roberts as well. Those two vets are on one year contracts, they won’t be back, and the Raiders do have some younger guys on the roster they could give an opportunity to, if Carroll really is about competition. You can’t justify continuing to play Devin White when he hasn’t been good in years, he’s putting up a PFF grade of 39, and the eyeball test certainly doesn’t reflect any better on him.
