Hosts Shares Bad News on Raiders’ Star; Says Christian Wilkins Could Miss 2025 Season

Christian Wilkins has been one of the hot topics of the Raiders’ 2025 offseason, and it sounds like the foot injury that experienced some sort of setback at the start of the calendar year has not healed correctly.

In May, league insider Tony Pauline reported that Wilkins may need another surgery and according to Raiders Report’ host Mitchell Renz, doctors have recommended that Wilkins have another surgery.

“Christian Wilkins needs another surgery and could be out the entire season,” Renz said Friday on Chat Sports’ Raiders Report.

“I had a source reach out to me yesterday… and unfortunately dropped this horrific news on my plate,” Renz continued. “Here’s what I know as it stands right now. Wilkins does, in fact, need another surgery… there has been speculation, there has been rumors, there has been multiple stories around Wilkins needing another surgery.”

“I’m telling you that somebody that I trust told me yesterday that it is a fact that [Wilkins] is going to have to undergo another surgery.”

Renz added that he has heard Wilkins does not want to have another surgery, but the Raiders’ medical team is advising him to have surgery and avoid the potential for further damage to his foot.

If true that Wilkins needs another surgery and could miss the 2025 season, it would be an especially disappointing loss considering he signed a four-year, $110 million deal with the team just over a year ago.

Wilkins played in just five games last year due to his broken foot, and it sounds like he’s at risk of missing all 17 games this year. There will be more information coming on Wilkins, but the outlook isn’t particularly encouraging in the third week of June.

The majority of local reports have hinted that Wilkins was expected to be back by September, but it’s starting to feel like the information coming out of the building has been a little more optimistic than what seems to be playing out.

Earlier this week, renowned orthopedic sports surgeon Deepak Chona offered his medical opinion on reports around Wilkins’ foot, and he made a notable statement that might end up applying to Wilkins’s situation.

“From what we’re hearing, it sounds like they expect him to be ready for training camp,” Chona said on the Just Win podcast. “But obviously, you know, the reports at this time of year are often optimistic, so it’s a little bit hard to judge that at face value…”

  1. Yeah, but I have a feeling he is right. Really a bummer here for the Raiders. Crazy contract, sad for CW’s career, he’ll never be the same more than likely, he’s set for life though.

  2. All on some dumbass celebration. Congrats, thanks for f’ing over the Raider Nation.
