Insider Believes Raiders HC Antonio Pierce Will Be Fired After 2024 Season

Will Antonio Pierce be back with the Raiders in 2025?

In just a couple weeks, that’s the question team owner Mark Davis and GM Tom Telesco are going to have to answer, and there will probably be a little input coming from one of the newest members of the Raiders’ ownership group.

It’s no secret that Tom Brady is going to have a strong voice on the personnel side of the organization, and that might not be a factor that will work in Pierce’s favor in the weeks ahead.

A Pro Football Post report in November indicated that Pierce was not Brady’s first choice a year ago, and according to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, there is sentiment around the league that Pierce probably isn’t going to get another season as head coach of the Raiders.

“What I’ve learned recently is it’s not just going to be Tom Brady’s thoughts on the quarterback position, which would make sense, right?” Russini said on the Scoop City podcast. “But really how involved Tom Brady is going to be in all regards in everything that has to do with the Las Vegas Raiders.”

“Look, [if] you’re Mark Davis. You’re frustrated. You haven’t been able to get this thing right in a long time. So they’re going to have to make a decision about their head coach with Antonio Pierce. I’ve talked to people around the league who believe that this is probably going to be it for [Pierce]… but I think Tom Brady is going to have a big hand in helping Mark Davis navigate the next steps here.”

If Pierce is fired, it sounds like former Titans head coach Mike Vrabel will be the team’s first choice to replace him.

According to Brian Costello of the New York Post, rumblings around the league are that the Raiders are the team most likely to land Vrabel as their next head coach.

“I think Vrabel is heading for the Raiders,” Costello said on the Gang’s All Here podcast. “That would be my prediction right now is that he’s going to the Raiders because I think the Tom Brady connection there will be strong. That’s where the murmurings in the league have him going. Las Vegas.”

Prior to Costello’s prediction, ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky said he believes Vrabel is “spoken for” and has a good idea of where he is going to coach next year. Orlovsky did not, however, reveal the team he thinks Vrabel will be coaching next year.

”I think Vrabel is spoken for,” Orlovsky said on the Pat McAfee Show last week.

”I think that Vrabel has got a very clear… path to where he going to be likely coaching,” Orlovsky continued. “I think there is a vision for where he likely ends up coaching next year. I’m not a reporter. I’ve come on your show before and I’ve said I heard something and it got me in a lot of trouble, so I’m trying not to do that.”

  1. As soon as the charger game ends, they need to walk into Pierce’s office and tell him he’s fired. There is no way on god’s green earth he thinks he’s coming back when he has a worse record than Josh McDaniels who was fired.

    1. I like the idea of Vrabel with complete football control, let Graham walk and keeping AP as the DC working with Vrabel. AP gets some experience both as a HC and NFL DC. Hire a innovative OC and let him shop for his groceries.

  2. Will Mark Davis pull a Jack Del Rio and have Antonio Pierce announce his own firing during the post game presser? Better call Saul, err Tom Brady.

  3. Letter to the NFL,

Why are you trying to take the Davis family’s team? I thought moving to L.V. would make you happy. Isn’t the feud with Al Davis the deceased legend over with? His son Mark has done almost everything to make you happy yet, it seems you want the Davis family to sell their team.
I think you should try and keep them in the NFL as long as possible. The Raiders have helped the NFL become wealthier and more popular, they’ve helped open doors for women and minorities and bought a lot of excitement and new ideas to pro sports. I think they need to stay in the NFL. I keep hearing about new stake holders buying more of the team, that’s o.k., but even if its’ a business deal, it doesn’t make it right for the Davis family to be minority owners or sell the team. Even if the new stake holders come from a winning culture the Davis family should be majority owners of the Raiders.
I don’t think Al would be happy with this situation and a lot of fans wouldn’t be happy about it either. We want something to stay on the team from its’ past and be about money. I know there’s been feuding and a lot of hostility but the Raiders can go modern without losing the Davis family this family is iconic and helped build the modern NFL and they shouldn’t lose their property.

    1. Now I see where the 60+ percent think we should draft Sanders and 30% ward and a half a percent somebody else.
Maybe if you understood the beginning of the end for the greatness of the Raiders happened when Al became majority owner.
That information is readily available if you can read and take the time to follow the dots.

  4. The Raiders were TANKING! that’s why they lost a lot this year! A.P. can’t be accused of sucking as a HC until they try to win that doesn’t mean he is the man for the Raiders’ job. But letting Brady hire Vrable/ anybody is a little too much! why is it the Raiders are the ONLY team doing this?

If Brady had worked with or took time to visit NFL offices I’d say he MIGHT be somebody they could invite to have some say in the Raiders front office but he is an ex-superstar jock and he is inexperienced as a front office guy/ exec.

Only the Raiders would do something like this. The NFL did this. They have been trying to change this team since Al passed away. They need elite HC and/ or staff not 2 inexperienced ex-superstar/ star player to run the front office.

The Raiders are being ruined by outsiders. Fans should know when there is something kind’a silly about a teams decisions.

    1. Al was the one who buried what he built in the sewer. You’re really out there dude. Like Otis Sistrunk out there.
