The Raiders have announced the signings of all but one of their 2025 draft picks, and second-round pick Jack Bech is now the lone holdout.
Bech is expected to sign ahead of training camp, but like most the second-round picks in this year’s draft, Bech is holding out for a fully guaranteed deal thanks to the way the Houston Texans handled the contract of second-round pick Jayden Higgins.
League insider John McClain was asked about Bech’s contract this week by flagship radio host Q Myers, and he explained why the Texans aren’t a popular team right now among their peers in the NFL.
“They can blame that on the Texans. They gave a fully guaranteed contract to their first pick in the second-round wide receiver Jayden Higgin and then the Browns did it [with] Carson Schwesinger, [the] linebacker from UCLA. No other second round picks got them,” McClain said on Raider Nation Radio’s Unnecessary Roughness.
“All the agents were like, ‘Hey, they did it. We want to do it,” McClain continued. “They did it for one, you can do it for all, so everybody that’s struggling to get their second-round pick signed should blame Nick Caserio, the Texans general manager.”
“Now, as we get closer to training camp, of course, they’re going to sign. But it is right now, it’s unprecedented for this many second-round picks to still have not signed. And you can’t blame them for asking.”
Along with all the other second-round picks, it will be interesting to see how Bech’s contract situation plays out, but there’s no real risk of the rookie wide receiver missing any important offseason activities.

Hell, the raiders first round pick isn’t totally guaranteed. If I’m the raiders, I give him a take it or leave it. And not fully guarantee. Make him go out and get a job working 8am – 430pm and see how he likes it. Than next year lower the price with enan less guarantee and see if he likes it.
All 1st rounders are guaranteed including A. Jeanty. Also Bech is now a professional (paid) NFL player. If the owners of the teams can continue to rob each and every fan that pays anything from tickets to merchandise and everything in between then they should be able to afford to pay the modest guarantees of a 2nd rounder.
Nothing is guaranteed, such as Bech and the others!! Guaranteed contracts for rookies, no matter where they’re drafted is ridiculous! Fully Guaranteed contracts for dudes who haven’t stepped foot on an NFL field, yet guys who are established can’t get them is outrageous!! AND the crazily high ticket prices will continue to get higher because of the they will continue to raise the guaranteed money and we pay the price!
As long as there is a provision that the money only becomes guaranteed if he makes the Final Roster. Give the Kid the Money!!! These Greedy Bass T#rd owners will pay for their sins at another time….
