Insider Shares Text Identifying “Key” to the Raiders Offense “Taking Off”

The Raiders might not be a juggernaut on offense this year, but there is no question they have the playmakers on offense to be as dynamic as most.

Quarterback play will be a significant factor in the team’s offensive success this year, but Sports Illustrated insider Hondo Carpenter pointed to another position group that might hold the key to a breakout season for the Raiders on offense.

Hondo said he was texting with someone in the organization who believes rookie tight end Brock Bowers will play a huge role in making the Raider offense a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses.

”I think the sooner teams understand they are going to have to double team Bowers, the sooner this offense takes off,” the source told Hondo.

A couple of takeaways…

First, it sounds like Bowers is going to be featured early and often in Luke Getty’s offense. Opposing defenses aren’t going to double team Bowers if he isn’t getting the ball.

Look for Bowers to be a big part of the Raider offense right out of the gate.

The other important detail is the matter of Bowers’ development. The sooner he gets acclimated to the NFL and Getsy’s offense, the sooner the Raiders can “take off” on offense.

Based on reports from training camp, Bowers has been one of the bright spots, so the timeline on his career taking off could be a little sooner than later.
