According to reports on Wednesday, Raiders’ veteran guard Kolton Miller is not planning to participate in offseason activities on account of his contract situation.
Miller is entering the final year of his current deal with no guaranteed money and according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s Vinny Bonsignore, the situation could be lining up to become a little messy.
“This is the second straight year that he’s gone into a season with a non-guaranteed salary. I’ve been told that he probably would have done this last year, as well, but he was rehabbing this time last year, so it was kind of a moot point,” Bonsignore said on Raider Nation Radio’s Morning Tailgate. “He wasn’t even able to get onto the field [during] OTAs or the workouts otherwise. That aside, you know, is it a concern? I think there is a little bit of a concern that there’s the potential of his days here being on an expiration date, let’s put it that way.”
According to Bonsignore, the new leadership in Las Vegas has not reached out to Miller’s camp about a contract extension and that could be in indication of how they view his long-term future with the Raiders.
“It was made very clear to me yesterday that no contract talks have begun. That doesn’t mean contract talks can’t begin or won’t begin, but they haven’t begun. And that’s a little bit conspicuous and maybe telling. It could be telling. People that I talked to in the NFL say, ‘Look, the Raiders have a lot of cap space and the fact that contract acts talks haven’t started yet… what does that tell you about what they may be thinking about Kolton Miller moving forward?'” Bonsignore continued.
“I’ll say this. Kolton Miller was a priority for the previous regime. He was somebody that, if you’re talking about a to-do list for this off season, Kolton Miller would have been somebody that they wanted to get extended. But those decision makers aren’t even in the building anymore. So, it’s no longer what the organization six months ago thought. It’s what the organization now thinks.”
It’s still early in the offseason, but with so many holes on the roster, the Raiders would essentially be acknowledging they are in full rebuild mode if Miller ends up playing for another team in 2025.
With the draft just a week away, will Miller’s status be something the team will take into account with their first-round pick?
Rumors have picked up in recent days that the Raiders is are strongly considering an offensive lineman in round one. ESPN’s Adam Schefter said as much in his appearance this week on Maxx Crosby’s The Rush…
“I know a lot of people think the Raiders are going to take a running back in round one, and they might,” Schefter told Crosby. “But I wouldn’t be surprised if they wound up going with a guy like [Armand] Membou, the offensive tackle, instead, over a running back.”
Tony Pauline has become one of the league’s better known draft analysts and shared a similar sentiment this week on the Raiders’ first round pick.
“Just about everyone has mocked running back Ashton Jeanty to the Las Vegas Raiders at pick No. 6. Yet I’m told the team will seriously consider Missouri offensive tackle Armand Membou with that choice,” Pauline said.
“With John Spytek being the team’s new general manager and a need to upgrade the offensive line, sources tell me Spytek would lean towards Membou considering the success he had with Tristan Wirfs in Tampa Bay. Many I’ve spoken with feel that Membou will be the first offensive lineman selected in the draft, ahead of Will Campbell of LSU.”

Time to move on. Thanks for playing well. Except last season. Let someone else eat a big contract.
Miller is a Left Tackle. Not a guard. I bet you are wrong about the rest of it too.
I want Membou but he’s a prospect & his best position has been RT.
If Spytek doesn’t bring back Kolton we are back to the McDonald’s/Reggie days
Miller has been injured the last two seasons. When he did play last season he was a liability. He’s old and fragile and you want to over pay him? Geno’s contract should tell you Spytek ain’t Reggie.
Even injured and down year for him, he graded out as the 14th best tackle in the NFL out of 141. So pay him the going rate for the 14th best tackle. Unless you think left tackles grow on trees.
I don’t look at grades. I watch games. Over and over. Maybe you should try it?
Meredith could be far more productive for 25% of what Miller is looking to get paid. And his availability will probably be 100% better. But you didn’t consider that did you?
A middle of the road contract with a third year team option sounds good enough. He’s a decent LT, when healthy, but the position can be improved.
Don’t quite understand your Reggie comment since he gave us the best OL we’ve had since the late 90s early 2000. I’d see what the market is for him and weigh the options. 2nd rounder and maybe some form of 4th / 5th as well. Otherwise I’d keep him and maybe even Franchise the next year. Don’t get me wrong he’s been a pretty good LT but he didn’t measure up to Donald Penn. Two completely different LTs.
What’s up with the poor info on Kolton,he’s a tackle not a guard, this site is a fucking Jewish owned pos site..Go burn in Gaza..
Idiot MF’s
Garbage site on every level
You and that tool Philly need to try hard it swallowing your tongues.
There’s still plenty of us that aren’t going to allow fools like you to go over the wire and act like the fools you are. #Accountability.
Send miller and Aiden to New England. Fleece them good.
