Insiders Offer Latest on Trade Rumors around Maxx Crosby, Jakobi Meyers

With the NFL’s November 4 trade deadline quickly approaching, the Raiders are expected to unload a player or two in the next 11 days, and two names that have been discussed in recent days are Maxx Crosby and Jakobi Meyers.

Meyers confirmed to reporters this week that he still wants to be traded, and Crosby has not made a public statement about trade rumors other than telling reporters on Wednesday he is choosing to “plead the fifth.”

NFL Media reported this week that Crosby is not being traded and does not want to leave the Raiders, but NBC host Mike Florio said he isn’t putting a lot of stock into that report.

“We’ve seen this before. We know how it goes. You don’t get maximum value for a player if you tell the world we want to trade the player,” Florio said on PFT Live. “You have to be coy. You have to create a market. You have to maximize through negotiation what you get. That’s what we’re thinking. I’m thinking it’s possible. I’m not saying it will happen. I just don’t believe the denial. I don’t think he’s an untouchable player.”

Mike Florio and Chris Simms unpack reports the Raiders won’t trade Maxx Crosby, shed light on why things just aren’t working in Las Vegas and identify the current “untouchable” elite defensive players.

But others around the league are still skeptical that Crosby will ultimately be traded.

League insider Tony Pauline addressed the trade rumors around Crosby on Friday, and he doesn’t believe the Raiders are interested in trading Crosby.

“While there were reports that the Dallas Cowboys inquired about Maxx Crosby, those close to the situation don’t expect the Las Vegas Raiders pass rusher to be traded to Dallas or any other team for that matter,” Pauline said. “I’m told that although Crosby wants to win, he is happy in Las Vegas.”

Pauline also addressed Meyers and named the Steelers as a team to keep any eye one.

The Steelers reached out to the Raiders about Meyers ahead of the season and it sounds like they might have an offer on the table for him now.

“The other name to keep an eye on is Jakobi Meyers, who wants out of Las Vegas and whose name has consistently been linked to the Steelers,” Pauline said. “Sources tell me there is legitimacy on a Meyers to Pittsburgh deal, though other teams have inquired about the Raiders wide out.”

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler added this week that whatever the Raiders communicated to the Cowboys on Crosby, it didn’t leave the Cowboys with a lot of optimism that they might be able to trade for him.

“My sense is that Dallas would be pretty surprised if the Raiders actually moved on from Crosby, with whom owner Mark Davis has a deep affection,” Fowler said. “The Cowboys — armed with two first-rounders in 2026 and seven picks in total before compensatory selections — also have looked into Bengals edge rusher Trey Hendrickson, whom the Bengals don’t plan to deal.”

“Meyers wanted a new deal before the season and didn’t get one despite a trade request. He appears poised for 2026 free agency. He leads the Raiders in targets (42) despite missing Week 7, and he is drawing interest at an ideal time for a Raiders team in transition. But there’s no consensus leaguewide on exactly what Las Vegas will do. Multiple execs told me they believe the team is open to a deal but is not actively looking for trade partners. Another, however, believes the Raiders would prefer to wait until after the season to make any sweeping changes, due in part to the presence of Pete Carroll. The type of offers that roll in over the next two weeks could determine the course of action here.”

Earlier in the week, Fowler put the odds at 35 percent that Meyers would be traded ahead of the deadline and listed the Steelers, Dolphins, Giants and Patriots as teams that might be interested.

Meyers spent four years with the Patriots before signing with the Raiders after the 2022 season.

As noted this week, Meyers still keeps a Patriots’ jersey in his locker.

Prior to the season, the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s Vinny Bonsignore explained why he doesn’t think the Raiders will take less than a third-round pick for Meyers.

“It’ll be a third-round pick for him,” Bonsignore said on the Vegas Nation First and 10 podcast.

“I don’t think the Raiders are going to trade him for anything less because… if you let him walk, you’re probably going to get a third or fourth round pick as compensation.”

  1. Apparently no on, in this organization, will receive a championship ring for at least 10 years. Failed management because of failed ownership. What a pity.

  2. He is the Raider and shouldn’t even be considered a trade candidate unless a team with multiple high picks in multiple rounds in multiple drafts and multiple players to give us comes calling. Back when Gruden ruined us 2018 he got a measly return all so he could bring in multiple veterans that cost more than they produced and were all gone in a couple seasons. The H. Walker deal should be small in comparison to what M.Crosby should bring in. We don’t have a long term coach or short term really, some offensive players even though at least one was overdrafted by at least 20 plus picks. We don’t have an OC or DC that inspire confidence. The roster is full of guys that shouldn’t be in the system that is being ran. Even after all that Mad Maxx is too valuable unless it’s franchise altering trade compensation. Meyers on the other hand should be shown the door if someone offers at least a high 4th.
