The Raiders aren’t through the second week of the NFL season, but when week 3 rolls around, it sounds like the Washington Commanders could be without Jayden Daniels when they host the Raiders in Landover, Maryland.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Daniels is dealing with a knee injury that is not believed to be serious but could affect his status for Sunday’s game.
Officially, Daniels’ knee injury has been described as a sprain, but NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport sounded a little more pessimistic on Daniels’ chances of playing, saying there is “doubt” the second-year quarterback will be cleared to play against the Raiders.
If Daniels is unable to play in week 3, Marcus Mariota will be the starting quarterback for the Commanders, according to ESPN’s John Keim.
The Raiders have their own injuries to monitor and going into Monday night’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers, All Pro tight end Brock Bowers is officially listed as ‘questionable” to play.
Pete Carroll sounded optimistic on Saturday that Bowers will be available, and that was a shift from the tone around the building earlier in the week.
With the Denver Broncos losing on Sunday, tonight’s game at Allegiant Stadium will be for first place in the AFC West.
The Chiefs were the favorites to win the AFC West going into the season (and maybe still are) but Kansas City is off to its first 0-2 start since 2011, and their path to winning the division is going to be as difficult as it’s been in a long time.
