The Raiders’ offensive line hasn’t been very good over the first two weeks of the season and there’s a little panic forming among the fan base that the blocking situation, like last year, might not get any better.
Former Raiders’ great Lincoln Kennedy gave the offensive line an ‘F’ grade for their efforts against the Chargers on Monday and flagship radio host ‘JT the Brick’ put out a strong message to the Raiders’ O-line on Thursday.
He said ‘clip it’ so let’s clip it.
“This offensive line, as Lincoln Kennedy says, needs to have an identity and it has to happen in the Capital. I need someone on this team, and here’s my really important point, and if you want to clip it and take it, do it,” JT said on his Raider Nation Radio show on Thursday.
“Someone on this offense, on the offensive line, better show me some body language in this game,” he continued.
“What is body language? That’s putting your arm in the air after a touchdown. That’s being on the sideline with high fives. That’s walking up and down the sideline before the game the way Lincoln Kennedy used to. Lincoln Kennedy, it was a tradition before an Oakland home game, when the other team was getting ready for the anthem, Lincoln Kennedy would pace 10 yards. He’d step on the field, not the sideline, and he’d pace 10 yards, and the other team looked at that mountain of a man and said, ‘Oh boy, Lincoln Kennedy’s worked up. Lincoln Kennedy’s ready to go.’ I haven’t seen that yet.”
JT went on to say he wants to see a vocal leader emerge from the Raiders’ offensive line.
“I like vocal leaders. I’m very critical of my New York Yankees because Aaron Judge, who’s one of the best players in baseball. If he’s not number one, he’s number two, [but] Aaron Judge is not a vocal leader. He doesn’t break water coolers. He doesn’t go in front of the reporters and say anything that’s important,” JT said.
“I need someone on this offensive line, if it’s not gonna be Kolton Miller, then maybe it’s JPJ, someone’s got to speak up now and prove that they’re a leader. I need to see body language. I need to see leadership. I need to see someone who’s a little bit more pissed off than I’ve seen at OTAs. I called the games play by play in the preseason. I want to see someone turn into a badass. I want to see a Raider offensive lineman become a badass.”
For what it’s worth, the Raiders do have a big personality in their offensive line room that plays with a lot of passion, but Jackson Powers-Johnson hasn’t found favor with the new coaching staff in their short time together.
Maybe this will be the week the trajectory of the season changes for Powers-Johnson and the entire offensive line?
x: @raidersbeat

Colton Miller is PFF highest Graded Pass Blocker so far this Season NOT on the Raiders but in the Entire NFL!!! He just goes out and does his Job… If the other four just do their Job like Colton – we are talking the Best Line in the League… No need for Showtimw – Just Do Your Jobs and then it becomes Just Win BaBY
Outside of Colton Miller, it’s time to blow up the offensive line and start over!!!!
Oh yeah, a real o-line coach would help too!
