Lincoln Kennedy Sick of the Same “Stupid A— Mistakes” from the Raiders’ O-Line

With Kolton Miller and Jackson Powers-Johnson, the Raiders have the worst offensive line in football.

Some blame the coaching staff, and some say the offensive line just doesn’t have enough talent.

Both might be true but listening to former Raider great Lincoln Kennedy talk about the offensive line this week, it sounds like a lot of their mistakes have been mental mistakes.

“It doesn’t matter who’s the quarterback. You got to get this offensive line situation figured out. I’ll continue to harp on that because when I’ve been watching film over the last couple of weeks, there have been so many errors, so many blocking errors, so many assignment errors,” Kennedy said in the Locked on Raiders Squad Show podcast.

“I can’t wrap my head [around it]. These are professionals. How are you still making the same stupid a— mistake that you made two weeks ago and it didn’t go for any yards of that when it’s talking about the run game and everything else?”

On the same show, Kennedy said the mistakes were so egregious that they almost looked like they were on purpose.

“[They need] more detail to assignments,” Kennedy said. “There have been busted mental errors throughout the season. Last game on Monday night, they seemed to be exaggerated to some degree. I don’t know if the guys went out there purposefully, saying, you know, ‘I’m going to block the wrong guy or I’m going to go the wrong way.’ But it d— sure seemed like it when I would review the film.”

“There’s even some of the things that they were doing… that doesn’t even make sense. Why would you go there of all places?”

On Sunday, the Raiders host the Browns at Allegiant Stadium and Myles Garrett could be in for a field day.

Garrett leads the NFL in sacks with 15 and it wouldn’t a big surprise if he has 20 by the time the sun goes down in the desert on Sunday.

  1. I see them getting overpowered, mostly. Like they just aren’t strong enough at the point of attack. But, then again we saw the same thing last season so why the poor player evaluation by Spytek and Carroll?

    1. We need to stop trying to copy every other team & just do raiders football POWER BLOCKING what we’ve always done best these little guys tryin to be athletic always get over powered we need to stick to our bread and butter

  2. Hmmm! They can’t run the ball, and they can’t pass block to give the quarterback the time
to go through his reads. But, they are getting paid to do only those two things. This is
what some might call football malpractice.

    1. If u don’t have the ability to run block the defense will disregard that threat and just come after the QB, making passing that much more difficult. Plus once they double team Bowers the Raiders don’t have WR that can get open consistently. Geno just doesn’t have the time to go thru all his reads. It all starts with a strong OL. The season was doomed when the inept Brady Bunch failed to learn from last season by not upgrading the OL.

  3. I don’t know how many times I have to say this BUT… They don’t have a Coach – not even a semblance of a Caoch. Coaches Teach – thus Coaches develop!!! They can’t even get relatively high draft choices unto the Field after ten weeks. For this reason alone Pete (the Loser) Carroll should step down or be Fired. Hiring his son to begin with was a Horrible Mistake. Pete wanted to get Baby Boy Brennan a Check. And BTW – Carroll Senior is NOT a Hall of Famer. One play call on its own should negate the honor. Even in the College ranks his Titles were Vactaed for Cheating. Seattle knew he was washed up – when they got rid of him they let him retire with a bit of dignity. No One else came calling for over a year and the the Raiders made their Fateful Move. I know that you probably don’t want to work this hard but You, Lincioln Kennedy, would make a Heck-of-a- Coach!!!

  4. So, given that we all know the many shortcomings of this team, the question becomes, which way is up? What does the people who run this team do to fix these egregious mistakes? My solution? Draft, draft and draft. Kolton Miller, out or traded whichever is most feasible. Geno Smith, Adian O’Connell and Kenny Pickett, out or traded whichever is most feasible. D J Glaze and Thayer Mumford, out or traded, whichever is most feasible. Pete Carroll and his son, traded, retired or fired whichever is most feasible.

Bring in Amy Trask, Brian Daboll, Lincoln Kennedy and bring back Antonio Pierce. Use Brady for consultation on quarterback matters only. Surely, some will question these moves but undoubtedly what this team is currently doing IS NOT working.
