Maxx Crosby: No “Fake Energy” from Raiders HC Pete Carroll

Pete Carroll seems to have already made a strong impression on the Raiders locker room, and it’s been apparent during voluntary workouts this week that the team is buying his message.

Maxx Crosby voiced some concerns about where the organization was headed at the end of the 2024 season, but the Raiders’ All Pro defensive end seems to be sold on the new coaching staff in Las Vegas.

Crosby gave a compliment to Carroll at the end of Wednesday’s practice, and it was hard not to think it was directed a little at one of his former head coaches.

“He just wants to see guys be the best versions of themselves,” Crosby said of Carroll. “He’s true to that. It’s not fake energy. It’s every day he’s the same guy.”

Crosby has always been a strong supporter of Jon Gruden, but he hasn’t said a lot about Josh McDaniels and Antonio Pierce since they left the organization.

Pierce brought a lot of energy to the team, but from the outside it never seemed fake.

McDaniels didn’t seem to bring a lot of energy to the Raiders, so if the little energy he did bring wasn’t real, that probably wasn’t a great situation, either.

It’s also possible Crosby wasn’t taking a shot at anyone with his comments on Carroll. He might have just been recognizing the fact that his 73-year-old head coach doesn’t need any help bringing energy to the locker room.

  1. Having an updated big contract might also help Mr Crosby look at things in a different perspective. Gruden was a good coach Mcstupid wasn’t. Goodell screwed him over royally. He will pay the price I’m sure Gruden hit the Karma button. It’s only time he gets his deserved payback.

  2. Ashton Geanty Offensive rookie of the year, Max Crosby Defensive player of the year. Malcom Koonce comeback player of the year. Coach Carroll , coach of the year. Raiders make it to the playoffs and go to to the AFC final against the Bills.
