Raiders DC Gus Bradley Has Short but Impressive Resume Against Lamar Jackson and the Ravens

The NFL’s week one schedule was released on Wednesday and the Raiders will open the season hosting the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football.

The Ravens are a tough draw for the Raiders, especially considering Las Vegas will have to face Lamar Jackson with a defensive scheme that will be new to most of the players under defensive coordinator Gus Bradley.

But the good new is this: Bradley was the architect of the Chargers’ defense that shut down the Ravens run game in the playoffs two years ago.

Peter Schrager on Twitter: “Ravens at Raiders Week 1. A good subplot…Roman vs. BradleyRemembering what Gus Bradley’s Chargers D did to the Ravens run game in that Wildcard game back in 2019… / Twitter”

Jackson, in that game, was held to 54 yards rushing and both Baltimore running backs were held to under three yards per carry – something that didn’t happen even once during the regular season that year.

NFL Network’s Brian Baldinger broke down the way Bradley stymied the Ravens’ offense that day, but it’s worth noting that the Chargers had a few elite defenders on their defensive line that made things difficult for Baltimore’s offense.

Do the Raiders have the D-line personnel in place to do the same?
