The Raiders stacked three wins in the month of September and narrowly fell short of a 4-0 start with their 30-27 loss to the Chiefs on Sunday.

The wins are what head Klint Kubiak was hired to bring to the Raiders, but he has also ushered in a culture of faith that has resonated with many in the locker room.

There have been several videos released by the Raiders’ PR department showing Kubiak praying with the team after games, and it was well documented the way the players took a knee and prayed for Ashton Jeanty when he went down with what looked like a significant leg injury in August.

Among the players who have a shared commitment to Kubiak’s faith has been second-year guard Caleb Rogers, and Rogers has found a way to live out his faith with a unique way of building up his teammates.

Prior to getting his first start of the season in week 4, Caleb Rogers talked about his faith in God along with his routine of leaving notes of encouragement to teammates.

“I don’t really want to take credit for it as much as I want to give that credit to God. It’s just something that’s my way of, you know, fulfilling my purpose in life, which is to be a kingdom builder,” Rogers told Vegas Sports Today last week.

“Just trying to help people… fulfill my ministry and continue to help grow God and encourage people in whatever way they can… however that can help them. I mean it’s not about me and I don’t even know if people know. I hope they don’t because I don’t want it to be about me. I don’t want people to say, ‘Hey I think you were doing that.’ I want them to feel like God is truly seeking out to them and that’s what’s most important.”

Rogers still trying to crack the starting lineup

In 89 offensive snaps this year, Rogers has performed well as a run blocker but has been a liability at times in pass protection.

Against the Chiefs on Sunday, Rogers gave up five quarterback pressures and four hurries on 57 pass plays, according to Pro Football Focus analytics.

On Wednesday, Jackson Powers-Johnson returned to practice after suffering a groin injury in week 3, so there’s a good chance Rogers will return to his role as a backup in week 5.
