It has become a foregone conclusion that the Raiders are going to take a quarterback in the 2025 draft, but will they go all-in on a first-round player like Shedeur Sanders, or will they wait and take a mid-round quarterback prospect later in the draft?
Sanders has become the most popular prediction to the Raiders at pick 6, and that’s where NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah has the Colorado quarterback in his latest mock. But Jeremiah thinks there is also a good chance the Raiders will be content to wait on a quarterback in the draft.
“I wouldn’t be shocked if the Raiders decided to wait until Day 2 of the draft to address the QB position, but I do see Sanders as a good fit in Chip Kelly’s offense,” Jeremiah wrote this week.
Sanders has become one of the most polarizing players in this year’s draft and if the Raiders don’t get him with the sixth pick, it will be interesting to see who they like among the group of quarterbacks most consider to be in the second tier at the position.
Sports Illustrated insider Hondo Carpenter released a mock draft this week and he believes Ohio State quarterback Will Howard will be a prime candidate to be drafted by Tom Brady and company in the middle rounds.
“I know that Will Howard has a terrific relationship with Chip [Kelly],” Carpenter said on the Las Vegas Raiders Insider podcast. “I know that based on people at Ohio State, they told me that Chip very much liked him and loved that he took his coaching. If Chip Kelly were to sign off on it, the Raiders go get either a trade or a free agent quarterback.”
“I have the [Raiders] taking Will Howard with that third pick, the quarterback out of Ohio State, who runs Chip’s offenses… He looks the part of an NFL player. He’s got the ability to run yet doesn’t take off too quickly. He’ll stay in the pocket. There’s a lot of good things about Will Howard.”
As for Sanders, ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky said this month that Las Vegas would be a perfect fit for the quarterback many consider to be the most accurate passer in this year’s class, and Orlovsky’s logic would probably apply to Howard, as well.
“Easiest decision of the draft and, by far, the perfect situation for Shedeur Sanders [is with the Raiders]. I do think there’s some young talent in Las Vegas [with] Brock Bowers being the premier kind of mainstay. I love the fact that he [would be] with Pete Carroll because you know that defensively they’re going to force him to score 35 or 40 a game,” Orlovsky said on ESPN’s NFL Live.
“I also love the fact that their new offensive coordinator Chip Kelly the collegiate ties, so the new age offense and some of the stuff that Shedeur is comfortable, with also understanding how the NFL game works. If you were Shedeur Sanders, you would take [the Raiders] in a heartbeat. It would be perfect for him.”

A foregone conclusion for ALL the knuckleheads that also emphatically said a certain OC from the Vikings was our new HC.
Y’all have a bunch of egg yolks running down your chins.
Are you mistaken when you put Vikings? The only OC from that area was the Detroit OC (Ben Johnson). It’s a **** shame Mark didn’t want to pay for him but he will for Carroll and a couple of his kids and Chip, throw in P.Graham who would probably be in Jacksonville if they had fired Trent B earlier. So far it looks like a match from Hell. We will see if the old Pete or the youth Johnson has a better year or rest of their careers.
Yes you’re correct. Lions. Johnson. When I heard someone inside the lions organization say Johnson is an introvert I was glad we didn’t sign him. No such thing as a successful HC that’s introverted.
Pay for Johnson? Johnson (who has never won anything meaningful) didn’t even want to interview with the Raiders. Mark is paying Chip Kelly $6M per year. I don’t think Mark Davis can ever be accused of not paying appropriate salaries to anyone. Some posters can sure be accused of being intellectually deficient.
The QBs un this draft class suck. I would not waste a first round pick on any of them. Wild the rest of the roster. The one player I would love to draft at 6 if Carter is off the board us Mike Green edge, Marshall.
He is going to be ridiculous.
Carter would be a good get. I’m concerned they will select offense early and often QB,RB,OL even WR. It really depends on Free Agency. Since we have plenty of defenders up
I think that they should take Howard or the Ole Miss QB. I am not sold on Sanders. I feel that he would be a problem trying to spread the ball to others accurately. More like a Justin Fields type of QB not a Jayden Daniels hopeful.
Jeanty at 6 case closed, keep 2/4 in house and let the others walk. Round 2 I like Jayden milroe, dual threat qb with 4.3 speed. Kelly will fine tune him. Will Howard is a good pick knows the Kelly system and has upside. Okay that’s round 1 and 2. Round 3, 2 picks get a couple of wide receivers. Now rounds 4-6 , 6 more picks address the other areas Olive and defense. Oh yeah after kicking hillbilly Menshew out the door along with Bradley and Ridder we will have over 100 million to sign and add players. Get it right Spytek.
I say should bring in Rogers draft Howard or Dart but with the 6 pick they must bring in Jeanty to help throw off the defense with running the ball down there throats.with the deep ball to worry about. Al Davis what’s to see the man Brady to bringing back the silver and black Moto. Just Win Baby!!!!
I like addressing the QB down the draft, or even with a FA, no washed up HoFers, not any bloated contracts. Who’s dreaming of having Tee Higgins? I keep reading that, the man cannot stay on the field. He has a teammate that is a world class WR getting double covered, and Burrow dealing to him. I know it’s boring, but we need some big bodies on both sides of the line, and should find a couple in FA on the offensive line. Always draft a blocker, even if it’s late, bring them along, teach them the game. I think the RB Jeanty is special, so wouldn’t be mad at that with pick 6. After that build the core.
