There hasn’t been a lot of national hype around Zamir White in the offseason, and he remains one of the NFL’s most overlooked running backs going into the regular season.
White is entering his third NFL season, and the stars have aligned with Josh Jacobs now in Green Bay, for White to be the feature running back in an offense that is expected to be very “run heavy” in the Raiders new offensive scheme.
The Raider coaching staff has talked about a running back by committee approach this season, but it’s worth noting that White averaged 21.5 carries per game after taking over for Jacobs in 2023. He brings a skill set that no one else on the roster can offer, and JT the Brick talked about that dynamic this week on his radio broadcast.
“They brought us ‘Zeus’ Zamir White to the [production] meeting and that was fun. The guy walks in and he could barely walk in the room. His legs are like trees. Like stumps on trees,” JT said on his weekday Raider Nation Radio program.
“He’s going to be a key to this year,” JT continued. “What happens if he comes into this season… we know the Raiders are going to be run heavy. We know that. What happens if he has an unbelievable year… what happens if we start feeding this guy and he’s just running people over. He’s getting like four yards a carry and then he just starts running people over and lands forward and it’s seven [yards]. It could change everything.”
White made a lot of headlines in the offseason around his workout routines, and it’s going to be interesting to see if he can carry the load at running back in his first season as the team’s unquestioned RB1.
Based on what he did last year with Jacobs out of the lineup, go ahead and take ‘White ‘Zeus’ where you can in your fantasy draft…
