What tattoo would Fernando Mendoza get if he had to get one?
After sharing his story about getting a tattoo with Maxx Crosby in 2022, that’s the question Yahoo Sports host Jason Fitz asked Mendoza on Monday.
Mendoza said the tattoo he would probably get would be a nod to his faith.
“If there was an alternative reality where Fernando Mendoza did make a promise [to get a tattoo], I would tattoo a cross I think maybe on my ribcage or something,” Mendoza told Fitz on Yahoo Sports Daily. “I’m open to it. I might have to check by my mom about her approval first.”
On a football note, Mendoza said he has been working on learning the West Coast offense and preparing to work with a new offensive coordinator.
“Every single year in college I’ve had a new offensive coordinator,” Mendoza said. “So I actually have a process on how to learn processes, so I look forward to taking that to the NFL and making this fifth offense in my fifth year.”
Mendoza is going into the 2026 draft with the uncommon luxury of knowing which team is going to draft him and it’s no secret that he has been learning aspects of the Raiders’ playbook for a while now.
Also on Monday, Mendoza was asked on the Up and Adams Show about the work he has been putting in with former NFL quarterback Brian Griese, and he told host Kay Adams that he is trying to eliminate some of the learning process that rookie quarterbacks tend to go through in their first week or two with the team.
“I have a lot to improve… it’s a different game,” Mendoza said on the Up and Adams Show.
“Having the under center work and trying to make the run action look the same as the pass action is very important to fooling the defense… so I’m just trying to do the best I can in that sense. It’s going to take a while and I’m very far from a finished product.”
