Raiders Young Edge Rusher Has Been “2nd-Fastest Off the Ball” at Training Camp

The Raiders have arguably the best pass rusher in the NFL in Maxx Crosby and with Malcolm Koonce apparently back to full strength, the pass rush in Las Vegas could be as formidable in 2025 as it’s been in a long time.

But even beyond Crosby and Koonce, there are a couple more pass rushers on the roster that are trending in a good direction as the season draws near.

Former first-round pick Tyree Wilson is hoping for a breakout year in his third NFL season, and according to Sports Illustrated insider Hondo Carpenter, Charles Snowden is having the best training camp of his career.

“Snowden is playing better than he’s ever played right now. He is starting to look like a young guy that belongs and could potentially become something special,” Carpenter said on the Las Vegas Raiders Insider podcast.

“His quick twitch… is phenomenal. He gets off the ball, not as quick as Maxx [Crosby], but he is the second fastest get off the ball guy.”

Snowden turned some heads in training camp a year ago, but only recorded 1.5 sacks on the season. His solo sack against the Cleveland Browns, however, was one of the most memorable plays of the season…

Keith Ricci on X (formerly Twitter): “Raiders DE Charles Snowden has spent most of his career on the practice squad.A month ago, the Raiders released him, and then brought him back…on the practice squad.Yesterday, he made this game-sealing sack and also had a team-leading 3 QB hits.Don’t ever give up. 🏴‍☠️ pic.twitter.com/z87A5Eag8b / X”

Making plays in training camp (and the Browns) is a lot different than making them in the regular season, so it will be interesting to see what Snowden is able to do this year in his second season with the Raiders.

With his length and athleticism, there’s no question Snowden has the physical tools to build a name for himself in the NFL.
