The Raiders might still trade Maxx Crosby, but for now it looks he’s going to be in Las Vegas for the foreseeable future, or at least until someone makes an offer similar to what the Ravens walked away from on Tuesday.
Every indication is that the Ravens had a change of heart on agreement they made with the Raiders for Crosby and pivoted while they were still hosting him in Baltimore.
On Wednesday, The Athletic’s Dianna Russini said that while Crosby was in the Ravens’ facility on Tuesday, the Ravens were reaching out to Trey Hendrickson’s representatives to work out a deal.
“I think the reason why the Ravens are taking so much heat and why the Raiders are obviously mad about this is it seems fishy that Trey Hendrickson… that those conversations started yesterday,” Russini said on the Rich Eisen Show.
“I can tell you that the Ravens spoke to Trey Hendrickson yesterday while Maxx Crosby was in the building. So that tells you that they were aware that something was going on… Maxx Crosby was there not knowing he was a dead man walking, that this was not going to be his team. That’s the problem here.”
Later, Russini was on the Dan Patrick Show and said Crosby felt like something was off in Baltimore from the beginning.
“When he went in for his physical from what I’ve learned, things just seemed really off in the building all day,” Russini said. “Something wasn’t right. He had his physical and the Ravens doctors looked at the MRI and then they had four or five independent doctors take a look at it, as well, and together they made the decision that this trade was not worth it based on what they discovered in his knee…”
“And they sat Maxx Crosby down in their offices and said ‘Look, thank you for flying out here. Thank you for saying your farewell goodbye. [We’re] not sure if we’re doing the right thing here, but we believe we are and this trade if off the table.”
In the hours since the deal fell through, the Raiders quickly put out the message that they intend to keep Crosby. But it’s also clear that the Raiders have shown their hand.
Unless something changes, Crosby is (again) available.
The team put out too many empty messages at the NFL Combine to be able to squash the rumors this time around, but will Crosby take the same approach?
Maybe Crosby’s trade request still stands, but considering the message he put out after being “traded” to the Ravens, would he consider continuing his legacy in Las Vegas?
For now, it’s important that everyone on the outside believe Crosby isn’t going anywhere, so that’s going to be the narrative for a while.
But this time… could it potentially be true?

Rhett Lewis, welcome to Raider Nation baby!
It would be great if Madd Maxx would stay a Raider. And if he would get to play against that cowardly team, take their qb out.
Couldn’t agree more!
Shout out to Tom Pelissero too, for telling it like it is!!!!
And shout out to baldy Brian Baldinger too for also telling it like it is!
The only one with the real kehones, to stand up and the truth! Go Tommy!
And another shout out to David Carr for having the cojones to tell it like it is too!!!!
The one thing you can always count on, and that is Mike Florio trying to bash on the Raiders, with any chance he gets!
So in summary Tom pellisero 👍 and David Carr 👍
all this bullshit, Maxx does not deserve any of it. Top teir person and player and this is how they treat him. screw the NFL
I don’t see any way the Raiders get close to as good as an offer as Baltimore’s at this point. If Dallas or another team was willing to give up a 1 and a 2, or a 1 and a reasonably priced, average or better starter, I would jump on it. If the offer is just multiple 2s, I think they have to consider it. Otherwise, they have to hope his recovery proceeds as planned and he balls out to start the year and maybe the offers get better.
The nightmare scenario is the Raiders holding out for an offer that never comes, and then he aggravates his injury and isn’t ready for Week 1, gets off to a slow start or outright refuses to play another snap for the Raiders. Then they’re basically hosed.
The Raiders are in a more reasonable position than counting on the future draft. It is, what it is.
The Baltimore Ravens are on the Raiders schedule for 2027.
