Reaction To Antonio Brown Joining The Raiders: 5 Initial Thoughts

Good Sunday morning!

It finally went down. Antonio Brown is an Oakland Raider and it’s too much to digest in one sitting, but here are my initial thoughts on Mr. Big Chest in silver and black.

– Did the Raiders finally win a trade? Sure, the Amari Cooper deal still looks fine, but after unloading Khalil Mack for an underwhelming return and giving up way too much for Martavis Bryant, Jon Gruden was starting to look like he was in over his head when it came to wheeling and dealing for players.

This is a deal no one will be applauding for the Steelers, who were worked over at every turn by their star wide receiver. Maybe Pittsburgh does well with their new picks, but considering what they traded away, they got very little in return in terms of draft picks.

– Brown stripped all the Steelers power away with the combination of his big salary and ridiculous antics. In the end it was really AB who chose his new team and Pittsburgh is left chewing what crumbs he left behind.

Call it even after what the Steelers did to the Raiders at the draft last year?

– The Raiders might have the most motivated QB/WR combo in the league. Brown is tired of hearing about Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers being responsible for his success. And Carr has to be sick of just about everything that’s been said about him over the past two years.

– Imagine if the Raiders turn around now and add Le’Veon Bell and a solid offensive tackle in free agency…. then use their four top-35 picks in the draft on defense and a wide receiver. Business would be booming.

– So much for the Raiders storing up all their assets for Las Vegas. The addition of AB, at his age and with his contract, means the Raiders aren’t only focusing on the future. Gruden wants to win now… and that’s why I’m not putting much stock into the Kyler Murray rumors.

And who was it that said a month ago that the Raiders would go get a big time wide receiver by the end of the draft?

    1. How are you disgruntled when our head coaching position has been a revolving door. The offense and defense has to learn a new system every two years. That wastes careers of good players.

  1. I just hope the sideline antics and the locker room division, as reported, doesn’t come into our locker room. Gruden DC4 have to be just like Belicheck TB12…. This is the Raiders Way….period…. work hard….shut your mouth…ball out….let’s see what happens…#RAIDERNATION4LIFE
