Report: Donald Penn And The Raiders Closing In On a New Deal

Following an extended holdout, Donald Penn returned to the Raiders two weeks before the season opener in ‘good faith’ that the Raiders would address his contract when he re-joined the team.

There were hints that an agreement would be reached before the season opener, but it didn’t happen. Nevertheless, it looks like something might happen before the Jets come to town on Sunday.

Networks’s Mike Silver reported on Tuesday afternoon that he expects something to happen “very soon” and The Athletic’s Vic Tafur confirmed that the two sides are “closing in” on a new deal.

Penn, who has outplayed each of his deals in Oakland, will more than likely see his pay raise but in return the Raiders will probably seek a team-friendly option to keep Penn around for another year. The Pro Bowl left tackle is currently slated to become a free agent after the season.

  1. He is a good and loyal soldier. He is one of the best still at what he does. Reward loyalty with cash and extend his contract. Thank you Mr. Penn!
