The Raiders introduced Pete Carroll to the media on Monday and one of next big announcements from the team will likely involve their new coordinators.
To this point, not a lot has been shared on Carroll’s coordinator candidates, but a report in The Athletic on Monday identified three candidates believed to be in the running for the defensive coordinator job in Vegas.
In a joint report, Vic Tafur and Tashan Reed said two of the three candidates on Carroll’s list are coaches already in the building.
“The Raiders interviewed defensive line coach Rob Leonard for their defensive coordinator vacancy on Monday, according to a team source,” Tafur and Reed reported on Monday. “Leonard has been with the Raiders since 2023 and has 14 years of coaching experience. He has previously coached with the Baltimore Ravens and Miami Dolphins. He has spent several years with Patrick Graham, the Raiders’ defensive coordinator from 2022 to 2024, and knows his system well. “
“Carroll also planned to talk to Graham about returning to the DC role, according to a league source. The Raiders have also requested an interview with Seahawks defensive backs coach Karl Scott for the defensive coordinator vacancy. Scott has been with Seattle since 2022, so he has two years of experience working under Carroll.”
There is a good chance Graham will be with a new team next year, but Carroll is known to be an excellent recruiter. The players love defensive line coach Rob Leonard, and both candidates would bring continuity to a defensive group that played well in 2024 despite being depleted by injuries.
As for the offensive coordinator vacancy, the insider tandem at The Athletic only mentioned one candidate and believe Darrell Bevell is likely front runner for the job…
“The Raiders aren’t known to have had any interviews or requested any interviews for the offensive coordinator role,” Tafur and Reed said. “Dolphins quarterbacks coach Darrell Bevell is believed to be the front-runner for the Raiders’ OC job, according to a league source, but others will be considered.”

This is going to be a disaster and it’s ALL Brady’s fault.
What? You don’t like Rob Leonard? He’s one of the best young defensive coaches out there. Our D line play wasn’t our problem. Maybe you should comment about the article and not your opinion lol.
Casuals should not be allowed to comment 🙄
