Report: Raiders Open To Trading All But About One Player

If the Raiders can trade Khalil Mack, they would be willing to trade about anyone, right?

As of now, some around the league apparently feel that Derek Carr is about the only untouchable commodity on Jon Gruden’s roster.

“According to two league sources who spoke with Yahoo Sports on Sunday,” league insider Charles Robinson wrote on Tuesday, “the Raiders appear to be open to having conversations about virtually any veteran not named Carr. And if things don’t start clicking with Carr by the end of this season, his availability may be the next story in Oakland, too.”

It’s worth noting that weeks before Gruden traded Mack to the Bears, there were reports that Gruden was quietly listening to offers. Local media and a well-known team employee laughed off the rumors right up until Gruden pulled the trigger on the deal.

As of now, there are no reports that the Raiders are listening to offers for Carr, but what if a team like the Giants came offering a couple first-round picks for Carr?

Would Gruden, whose mind seems to come and go like the tides, consider trading the face of his franchise?

  1. No, Gruden isn’t letting go of Carr even if Carr “regresses” (plays poorly due to a crap OL) the rest of the season. As long as Gruden goes back and sees that Carr is doing everything he wants him to and is only limited by the players around him, then Gruden is going to stay rolling with Carr, as he should.

QB’s with far less skill have gone on to win it all, so really it’s just about building around Derek and putting him in the best possible position to succeed. They are still learning each other and the players around them, so it was going to be a process either way.

As long as Gruden builds some depth @OL and drafts a true #1 WR for next season, then everything should come together nicely on offense. Chris Warren the 3rd is a legit replacement for Lynch, so everything should be in place for a dominant offense for years to come.

Btw, I don’t see Gruden getting rid of anyone on the OL outside of Penn. KO, Hud, Gabe, and Miller should all be locks for the next couple years.

    1. I agree. Depth on OL, a versatile safety that tackles, and a top 5 pick used on an edge rusher. C. Warren was a good find. We’ ll be ok. Got to attract good free agents somehow. Maybe lack of Nevada taxes??

    2. Awesome and could not have been said better. These fools screaming,”CUT CARR OR TRADE CARR!” I ASK, ” AND GET WHO?” Since the trade we are all still kind of in shock. Then to watch how the season has gone has not been any better, so for now we are stuck with Gruden and this dismantling of our Team. We have to ride it out now or just find another team. I have been a fan for 42 years, so I dont know anything else. RN4L!

    3. ****!!!! Gruden gets offered 2-1st round picks for Carr and say bye bye to Carr and his 125 million dollar a year CONTRACT!!!!! Hell give us a one and two and Manning and we’d be better off. I believe his contract is expiring! I’m sorry people. Carr is NOT AN ELITE QB! The Seakawks game wasn’t his fault! But he’s turning back into Captain checkdown.

    4. If? Carr really only had 1 lucky (good) year. In order to regress you must be Great first. He has never been great . Just got lucky one Freakin year. I think David Carr would be better right about now. And them far less better QBs the won, had a “Mack” and DEFENSE.

  2. Hard to believe this report. I mean if the price is right, even Aaron Rodgers is tradeable lol – it would probably require 10 first rounders, but hey, the offer is there. They’re impressed with the young guys like Hurst, Key, PJ Hall – hard to believe they’re on the trading block. Kolton Miller is a fantastic LT that’s battling through an MCL sprain. This is probably Beast Mode’s last year and KO & Rodney Hudson are perpetual pro bowlers, so this is hard to believe.

  3. @raidersbeat it’s becoming clear, your spins in recent articles suggest that you were personally hurt, offended at the Mack trade. Get a hold of yourself and return to objective journalism.

    1. Well said! Concerning the Mack trade, there’s only one question you have to ask: If the Patriots had him, would they have extended his contract for what the Bears paid? And the answer is: HELL NO!! The only thing they would have done is trade him before the draft, so they could get some of the draft picks right away. GO RAIDERS!!!

  4. @Jesse Gardner. It good to see someone within the nation that has football sense. I agree with you. I don’t see it happening. People don’t understand that the Mack deal was done because his agent wanted a lot of money for one player and that doesn’t make any sense. The Bears will be the team who will pay for it in the long run. By the time Mack is done there we will have the top defense for those 6 years he is with the Bears. Carr has grit and knowledge. Way better than Grudens previous QB’s he has had in the past. We cannot provide instant gratification to those who don’t know football. Excited about Warren and our upcoming draft. I say trade Cooper now and get some more picks.

    1. I got one am waiting for the greatest news possible; Reggie and his scouting team and pro personnel team are gone!!!! I’m still scratching my head at that Obi pick! Joseph???? Lol. Jihad Ward???? Lol. Jon needs his own GM and own scouting and pro personnel staff. Get them fools there now out!!!

  6. It’s very obvious what’s goin on. This year doesn’t matter, and frankly neither does next year. These two years are being used to tear it down and build it back up so the new era, the Las Vegas Raiders has a good team. I myself have season tix, I’m on that ugly wall of fame, (I’m ashamed to be on it) but I’m so happy to be leaving Oakland. First it was so many years of half empty coliseum and nasty stadium. It stunk cause the toilets wouldn’t flush. And Oakland is a third world country. Good luck going to a bar or restaurant after the game, if you’re white you’re putting your life in jeapardy. It’s not a safe town and due to the people running Oakland it’s only getting worse. Decent people aren’t safe there. I for one am a life long Bay Area resident but can’t wait to get to Las Vegas!

  8. It sure is good to be out. Iv been in an institution for so many years, place called Agnews, 🤪, in Santa Clara. Anyway I’ve missed all you guys.

  9. The Raiders couldnt trade Carr if they wanted to. No team is taking on his contract. I think Gruden is stuck with Carr, if there continues to be more regression, they just cut him outright, and eat the dead $

  10. If there is one person who is off limits for trades it should not be Carr. If such a person exists, right now I would say it’s Hurst. Great player on low cost rookie contract with years left. You can’t beat that. Carr? Plenty of guys off the street can throw check downs to their first or second read at a range of less than 10 yards.

Oh that sounds as one game. But you get the point. Overpaid and not the same since his leg injury.

  11. Doesn’t make sense to keep the QB and rid the line… kinds senseless. But so is trading Mack and saying that it’s hard to find a pass rusher…

  12. Gruden is completely drunk on power and extreme arrogance. He has no idea how to build a roster, but believes he has it all figured like a seasoned veteran GM. That’s like giving a random dude the keys to a NASCAR vehicle and telling him to go win a race. I feel like we’re right back to 2005 levels of terribleness…….

  13. If? Carr really only had 1 lucky (good) year. In order to regress you must be Great first. He has never been great . Just got lucky one Freakin year. I think David Carr would be better right about now. And them far less better QBs the won, had a “Mack” and DEFENSE.
