It sounds like the Raiders are down to their final game in the city of Oakland.
Following news on Tuesday afternoon that the city of Oakland had filed suit against the Raiders, a report from NFL insider Jason Cole indicated that there is “no way” the team will return in 2019 while the city intends to take them to court.
High ranking Raiders official said today there is “no way” the team plays in Oakland in the 2019 season after the city filed suit today. Source said there are 5 or 6 cities the team will consider, including some that already have NFL teams.

If the Raiders don’t return to the Bay Area next year, their final game in Oakland will be on Christmas Eve for a Monday night matchup with the Broncos.
According to Cole, the Raiders are not considering a timeshare in Santa Clara with the 49ers and likely won’t spend next season in northern California at all – which gives the impression that Los Angeles and San Diego might still be options. Given the stubborn streak we’ve seen from Raiders owner Mark Davis in the past, Tuesday’s news should not come as a surprise as he has developed a pattern of refusing to work with agents (if you believe recent reports on the Khalil Mack departure) and politicians (no explanation needed) he doesn’t respect.
For Raider fans in the Bay, this will be one final kick in the pants for a fan base that’s been overwhelmingly supportive of a football dumpster fire for most of the past two decades. Someday, maybe the local fan base will be rewarded for their years of dedication and suffering, but it’s fair to wonder right about now… just when, baby?
