It’s been a strange day for news around Matthew Stafford and the Raiders.
A report from FOX Sports insider Jordan Schultz said thus afternoon that Matthew Stafford and Tom Brady recently met in the state of Montana to discuss the viability of Stafford joining the Raiders.
According to Schultz, the Raiders are believed to be the “most aggressive” suitor for Stafford and Brady has been actively recruiting him to Las Vegas since the Rams gave permission to Stafford to talk to teams about a trade.
Not long after Schultz’s report, though, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport dropped a bomb on the news, saying the meeting between Brady and Stafford was “unplanned… not extensive or in-depth and did not include Brady ‘hosting’ or ‘recruiting’ Stafford.”
Rapoport’s report was an obvious shot at Schultz and it was a bold position to take considering no one is going to buy into the idea that the meeting between Brady and Stafford came together by chance.
Obviously, there are reasons the Raiders and/or Stafford’s camp didn’t want the information out there because even if Brady and Stafford did somehow run into each other by chance (which no one really believes), why did it need to get shot down so quickly?
Without a doubt, ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio is going to break down the motivation of someone involved in the situation (we don’t know who) to downplay what’s going on right now between Stafford and the Raiders.
In the meantime, it looks like it’s only a matter of time before Stafford is going to be traded to the Raiders.

This Is great news, I’m sure our head coach, Ben Johnson, is thrilled at the prospect of working with Stafford again. Oh wait! That’s not our coach! is this the same “Insider” that was writing a few weeks back that Tom Brady had convinced us the hottest head coaching prospect was coming to Vegas, “It’s all but done”. Now Tom has new ski buddy and “It’s only a matter of time” before this deal is done. Tom has been coaching Shedeur Sanders, Deion prefers his son goes to LV, he’s going to come here and learn for two years behind Stafford. You guys kill me. Cooper Kupp will be coming along on the league minimum, because Tom & Matt are here.
I agree. This is BS.
The Rams are going to want a 1st round pick, at least, for Stafford.
That alone eliminates him from our plans.
Build the team. Stick with Aidan for a year.
R1 Mike Green EDGE Marshall.
R2 Kaleb Johnson RB Iowa
Free Agency Mekhi Becton.
Are you kidding me if we get Matthew Stafford we got one of the best quarterbacks in the league!
Oh, I agree. I’m only tired of these reports that put Brady out there making a connection and it’s like he’s the Godfather, “I made him an offer he can’t refuse”. We’ll be lucky if he doesn’t cost us a draft pick.
If we get Matthew Stafford it’ll be awesome!
Agreed. It’ll be awesome for the Rams, Chiefs,Broncos, and Chargers. Hello AFC West cellar, once again!
No stafford his days are behind him. He needs to retire. Injuries.
Just the ignorant Raiders would consider giving up precious draft capital for a QB on the downside of his career! This is Stafford 2025, not 2015. The guy isn’t the QB to build a team around. If u want a senior at QB, get Rodgers for NO DRAFT PICKS. Hopefully Brady isn’t that stupid, but then again he’s never ran a peewee league team let alone an NFL franchise, before.
I think Stafford is worth a 3rd round, or a swap of 2nd rounds. Yes, Rodgers will take no draft picks, but then you get the Rogers circus, the weekly McAfee appearance, the dark retreat, is he bringing the quitter Tae Adams? Stafford could play three seasons and still not be Rodgers age that he is today. But really, I think Brady is just helping Stafford get a raise from the Rams, just like Ben Johnson got another mil or two from the Bears.
