Schefter Shares Shedeur Sanders Draft Buzz that Could Affect Raiders at Pick 6

Are the Raiders going to have the opportunity to draft Shedeur Sanders with the no. 6 pick in the draft?

Based on what ESPN’s Adam Schefter is hearing, it sounds like the possibility is becoming greater every day.

“It certainly feels like the Cleveland Browns are inclined to look elsewhere, aside from the quarterback [position]” Schefter said on the Pat McAfee Show on Wednesday.

“It’s starting to feel like the New York Giants at no. 3 are starting to look elsewhere other than quarterback. So if the Browns don’t take Shedeur Sanders at 2 and if the Giants don’t take Shedeur Sanders at 3, and that is the feel that I’m getting recently, where is Shedeur Sanders going?”

If the Browns and Giants pass on Sanders, there is every reason to believe he would slide past the Jaguars and Patriots, as well. In that scenario, the Raiders would have the opportunity to draft Sanders unless someone trades ahead of them to get the Colorado quarterback.

With Geno Smith presumed to be the starting quarterback in Las Vegas for the foreseeable future, it will be interesting to see what the Raiders do if Sanders becomes an option in the draft.

Sanders is, with question, the most polarizing player in this year’s draft, but a lot of the negative sentiment around him over the last few months has as much to do with his family as it does his play on the field.

The presence of Deion Sanders will loom over any organization that drafts Shedeur and there are going to be teams that aren’t interesting in signing up for Deion’s commentary if Shedeur’s first year or two in the NFL don’t go as planned.

Whether or not the Raiders are one of those teams, the opportunity to find out might be coming on April 24.

And on another note… if Shedeur ends up in Las Vegas, will the window of opportunity close for Geno Smith to sign a long-term deal with the Raiders?

Is that the detail that might be holding up negotiations between Smith and the Raiders over the last few weeks?

  1. I don’t get why you don’t send a 5th round pick to New England for Milton… other than Brady and Kelly dont think he can play at all. That AOC has more potential …uhhh? All these other Potential future qbs in the draft are going to cost them a higher draft pick than what the cowboys gave up for Milton.

  2. I agree Karl but news just broke that the patriots sent Milton to the Cowboys for a 7th round pick. The Raiders had a better offer on the table but they chose to send him to the Cowboys. I don’t like the patriots, I don’t like the $5 dollar massage owner Kraft. Nothing period! Boston is a sewer. I hope the Raiders never have another thing to do with that organization.

    1. It was a 5th for Milton and a 7th … so basically not much and totally worth it for the cowboys imo. I wonder what the RaaaDuhs offered, if anything? Perhaps there was a personal element here with McDaniels in the mix.

  3. Little Sanders is a Second Round Talent PLUS he has Considerable Baggage that will never go away names “Prime”
