Tom Brady is on the cusp of becoming a minority owner of the Raiders, but it sounds like he hasn’t slammed the door shut on returning to the NFL as a player.
Asked on the DeepCut podcast if there was a scenario where he would return to the NFL, Brady mentioned the Raiders and Patriots as teams he would consider playing for if the situation was right.
“Patriots, Raiders, you never know. I’m not opposed to it,” Brady said. “I don’t know if they are going to let me if I become an owner of an NFL team, but I’m always going to be in good shape, always be able to throw the ball. So, to come in for a little bit like [Michael Jordan] coming back, I don’t if they would let me, but I wouldn’t be opposed to it.”
It’s obviously a long shot that Brady will play again in the NFL, but it’s worth noting that the Patriots and Raiders are in similar situations at the quarterback position. Both teams need a quarterback, but the Raiders don’t necessarily have a path to one of the top quarterbacks in the draft.
If the Raiders don’t get a quarterback in the draft, it’s conceivable that Mark Davis and Brady could devise a plan that would shock the football universe.
We know that Davis has given his blessing to GM Tom Telesco to make a big move for a quarterback, but the thinking is that the Raiders could make a bold move for a quarterback in the draft… not a 46-year-old quarterback who will turn 47 before the season begins.
But this is the Raiders… and the unexpected should always be expected.

No Way, Brady cannot move, today’s QBS are able to run if need be. I would much rather Tom work with all of our QBS and guide them in hitting their targets as Tom did.
GET LOST TOM! NO WAY! ESPECIALLYNOT FOR THE RAIDERS. THE FOORBALL WORLD HAS FATIGUED ON YOU AND YOUR LINGERING RETIREMENT DRAMA! JUST GIVE GOOD STAKEHOLDER COUNSEL TO MD FROM HERE ON.
