Tyree Wilson is in his second season with the Raiders and he is a player the fan base still doesn’t know a lot about.
In interviews, Wilson is soft-spoken and sometimes even a little bashful, but on Sunday the former first-round pick was anything but bashful in something he said to Broncos quarterback Bo Nix.
There’s no audio of the exchange, but CBS broadcast cameras captured it well.
The play came late in the third quarter on a third and 7. Wilson and Maxx Crosby converged on Nix and forced the rookie quarterback to throw the ball away.
Whatever Wilson said after the play brought an intense, googly-eyed reaction from Nix and the referee standing nearby did seem happy with Wilson, either. Wilson clapped and backpedaled to sideline, and the rest of the story, for now, is left to our imagination.
Anyone with the ability to read lips, feel free to comment below…
For Wilson, Sunday was a breakthrough game of sorts. Despite only playing 30 snaps (which seems a little low), Pro Football Focus credited Wilson with a sack and three stops.
Wilson’s three quarterback pressures against the Broncos was his second-best game total of the season, and he now has three sacks in his last four games.
It’s been a forgettable season for the Raiders, but Wilson’s production in recent weeks has been a bright spot. To this early point in his career, Wilson hasn’t lived up to the expectations of his draft position, but it’s starting to feel like his trajectory is changing.
What we’ve been hearing about Wilson’s potential for the last two years is finally starting to show up in spots on Sundays.
x: @raidersbeat
Wilson has no reason say anything. He is still a one trick pony with no game.that sack was opened up by a stunt and left him unblocked. AND, the Q just turtled up for him.
Get off the glass pipe bub; you’re high bro.
All of a sudden the man can’t express what hes feeling during game time
He’s a raider. Not worth the comment. He’s just trying to live up to the raider hype.
Jawing between playing is normal in today’s game. No thing of substance, here. Wilson’s play is improving, and that’s good for the team.
Just another whiff by our GM. Would be interesting to see if any team in pro sports has done as poorly with their first round picks over the past 25 years.
Looks like he will fit right in with the Raiders and their trash talking ways. Lately their mouths have done the talking while their play has left much to be desired for the fans.
The reason the jury (fans & commentators) is he was drafted way to high because of his major injury that he was recovering from. Just another terrible decision by Josh McDaniels, Dave Zeigler, and Mark Davis for letting those clowns in the building to begin with.
You my friend will know who Mr. Wilson is next year. Promise
